No. It depends on the state and local laws of those persons' area. If there is no restriction on ownership then a gun can be kept in the home, but a concealed carry license is required to have one in public.

In a few states you are allowed to carry a firearm in public as long as it is in plain view in a carry device or holster (not carried in your hand)

A majority of the states in the U.S. allow for concealed carry of firearms in public (Streets etc.) but they are restricted from public buildings and Bars. However, the people that actually have them it is not a widespread as is perceived.

For the most part, privately owned firearms are kept in homes but are often transported to shooting ranges.

S.J. that "Stupid Constitutional rule" is called a "Right" which means that the Govt. cannot make laws contratry to it. Sorry to hear that you don't have many of these in the Great White North, there, eh? We're glad you live in a "Perfect" nanny state. And don't worry, you can keep it!

Depends on the State.
Some states allow open carry without a permit, others require a permit to carry open or concealed. There are States (eg. Maryland) where it is a practical impossibility for average citizens to do so because of draconian laws, arguably in violation of the Constitution.
Every State prohibits guns from being carried in certain places (eg. courthouses, bars, schools) which again varies by State.

There is an overall right to carry in the second ammendment, but states have very different laws. Some allow almost anyone to carry anywhere (Vermont, Alaska) with almost no regulation. While others tightly regulate it and will only issue permits to those who prove a need. All will reject applications for persons with criminal records or mental health issues. Then there are different levels. Full carry, target only (you carry gun to and from range), work permits (for guards, security etc) premise permits where you can only have the gun in the house or place or work. That applies to pistols. The laws are different for rifles, which often require no permits.(also varying from state to state!)
The laws vary greatly from state to state. Check out the NRA at www.nra.org They have all the laws from state to state.
The laws are so varied and so different, you really have to check out each indivdual state.

Contray to popular belief around the world, the vast majority of Americans do not carry guns in public of any type. While there are a lot of guns in the US, most are in the home and are rifles, shotguns. That applies to lawful ownership. Criminals do not follow the law to begin with, so gun laws only punish the law followers and serve no purpose to crimianls, who by their definition, don't follow laws to begins with!!

Constitutionally, "The right of the people to KEEP and BARE arms SHALL NOT be infringed". In plain English ALL gun laws, at least on the Federal level are UNCONSTITUTIONAL. That said, laws passed by various states are all over the map. Claiming that there are 50 distinct answers to this question would be a colossal understatement.

I believe you need to have a concealed weapons permit to carry out side of your home. Ever state is different. You can not carry a weapon into a bar, school, court house etc.

You can carry a weapon on the streets so long as you have a permit to carry the weapon. If you are carrying the weapon concealed you must have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Otherwise, no.

You can keep the weapons in your house.

According to the Constitution and the Federalist Papers yes. Unfortunately, some states think they have the right to restrict the right to self-preservation.

I'm a Canadian and we are not allowed to carry guns at any time - except for police and some other authorized persons. As a result we have the ultimate peaceful society where generally we can walk the streets at any time without fear. Americans generally are allowed to arm themselves - according to the stupid constitution rule - and as a result gun crime is common and widespread. It is so bad that carrying a gun in some places is necessary ! What a stupid situation it is. And it creates an American self- righteousness attitude which all the world denigrates.

Different states have different laws about this. You can keep a gun in your home, but to be in public with it may be illegal, or you will need a license to do so.
