I am planning on getting new carpet soon and have heard that lowes has a sale a few times a year on carpet . Does anyone know when these "sales" happen because I have been looking at their ads for a few months now and have not seen anything. I'm not talking about the special order flooring or carpet, just plain ol' carpet. thanks

Lowe's does have a sale on carpet a couple of times each year....it usually corresponds with about 1 - 2 months before the major mills(Shaw, Mohawk, Bealieu) have their price increases. (Flooring stores get letters about increases about 30 days before it happens) They will get in many rolls below increased price that is about to happen...have the sale occur after the increase....and since they have it "in stock".... sell it at a a greater mark up....just make sure it's the color you want...mostly beige.....and you will still think you're "saving" money.

If you REALLY want to save money, and if quality is not a huge concern....check out discount flooring stores in Dalton GA, and Calhoun GA. If you're really on a budget...have them check the mills for "off goods"....many times, these carpets have flaws that only a professional can see.

Best option...contact a local, reputable, flooring professional...have their installers do the job. You will still get a fair price, the store has more control over the installers than you would on your own....and there won't be any added "add ons".

Lowes Carpet Sale

Rug Dr's cost too much when you add in the chemical costs. They over wet your carpet and lack the suction to dry your carpet. That's just asking for mold problems. They also leave a chemical residue. As a pro cleaner, I will put down about 12 gallons in 3 rooms and recover 11. Your rugs will be cleaner and dryer. The Rug Dr will use about 4 gallons in the same area and recover about 2. A home machine will put down about 2 gallons and recover 1.

Unless you plan on installing it yourself or hiring your own carpet layer, don't buy from Lowes or Home Depot. They sub-contract out their installation of everything and it ends up costing more that if you went to a regular carpet store in the first place. I buy my carpet from Fred's Carpet.(Los Angeles area). I did buy some from Lowes, but it was for the garage and we laid it ourselves.
