That's where we should all let it stand now. If God gave us all the answers, there would be no room for faith. We do not have to prove His existence to anyone; we KNOW He exists. And they claim to be the highly intelligent ones of us all, so let the burden of proof be on them if they want it. With their 'mensa' scores and they can't even find a way to prove God does/doesn't exist? Because they CAN'T. I hope they are prepared to debate with their maker after all this; I am.

Well we need to focous on the positives of the matter, can you prove anything IS a messiah? How can we know what is or isn't without a factual basis. Ex:
Timmy: A frog!
Bobby: It looks like a frog so it must be one!

Timmy: Jesus was the messiah!
Bobby: How do we know? We've never had a messiah so what do we base that opinion upon?

Jesus is a fictional character, as are all gods. If you want to convince anyone otherwise, you'd better come up with some proof. By the way, the christian bible doesn't count. It's simply a collection of short stories.

Did a historical Jesus exist?
http://www.nobeliefs.com/exist.htm

ALL CLAIMS OF JESUS DERIVE FROM HEARSAY ACCOUNTS

No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus got written well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources derive from hearsay accounts.

Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness' own knowledge.

Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship. Hearsay provides no proof or good evidence, and therefore, we should dismiss it.

You can't prove negatives. Prove that George Washington was not the Messiah.

I would say the burden of proof is on you. Messiah is a Jewish concept, and modern Jews say that Jesus does not fill the qualifications.

If you're going to go by that logic, then I will say that the universe was created and is ruled over by two invisible lobsters named Esmerelda and Keith.

Prove me wrong.

And by the way, I am a professing Christian, but that sort of logic doesn't work to prove anything.

Sure I can. It's in Revelations. It clearly states that you cannot add anything to the bible. It was written before the parts about Jesus.

Case Closed.

I am God. I created the entire universe ten seconds ago, with all your memories intact.

What, you don't believe that? Prove me wrong. :P
