Sorry to tell you, Cannon_primed, but I looked the term up in the dictionary- unfortunately it IS African. Here is what the definition/origin says:

mumbo-jumbo
noun, informal
Language or ritual causing or intending to cause confusion or bewilderment.

ORIGIN
Mid 18th century (as Mumbo Jumbo), denoting a supposed African Idol. The current sense dates from the late 19th century.

Who knows? The Oxford says "of unknown origin". It could be from any of dozens of languages. "Jumbo" itself is Swahili for elephant but that does not mean that mumbo jumbo is Swahili.

I believe it's just a load of random words onomatopoeically joined to create a silly/humorous sounding phrase.
Don't read too far into it. Peace.

its definitely not African. I'm pure African, I would know. What makes you think ur source knows anything about what they are saying TheStudioLoft? I'm pretty sure I would know if it was genuinely African. Dont u know these guys r lying half the time they say stuff about Africa.
