How much exercise does a 6 yr old Shih Tzu need? I play "catch" with her every nite for about 10 minutes. Is that sufficient? I take her to work with me every day but all she does is sleep and wait for me to get finished. Is 10 minutes enough if I do it every night?

I have a Dalmation which are notorious for being an excited breed, they want to run, play and everything else under the sun. In the afternoons, I take her for a 15 minute walk, down to a creek. She loves the water, so I will either throw a ball into the creek for her to run and swim into, or I simply keep her on a leash take her into the water, and have her swim against the current for 5-10 minutes. when I try to get her out she still wants to swim! When I get home she is out like a light.
If this is not possible for you, then it's best for you to walk her (and yourself) for about 30 mins. in the morning so she can get exercise, and do her business. when you get to work, you should take her (and yourself) out for a walk during lunch and breaks. Both of you will be better for it if you walk her 2-3 times a day!

6 years for a shih tzu is only about middleage..so it seems like she could use more stimulation..in my opinion it seems like a lonely life despite her being at work with you, no ones interacting with her.
"Temperament
The spunky but sweet Shih Tzu is both a gentle lap dog and a vivacious companion. It has an upbeat attitude and loves to play and romp. It is affectionate to its family and good with children. It is surprisingly tough and does have a stubborn streak.
Upkeep
Despite its small size, the Shih Tzu needs daily exercise. Because of its small size, it can meet its requirements with vigorous indoor games or short frolics outside or with short walks on leash. It does not do well in hot humid weather, and it should never be expected to live outdoors. Its luxurious coat needs brushing or combing every other day; puppies should be taught to accept grooming from a young age. Pets may be clipped. "

I think a nice leisurely walk would be a good compliment to your 10 minute fetch game. Don't look at it as a chore; this is quality time with your pooch!

No, she needs a good brisk 30 minute walk, too. Maybe during your breaks or lunchtime?

by her some toys in which she can play by herself. My shiba inu just chills in the backyard for hours running around, barking at other dogs, etc until I get home.

If she's in good physical shape, I'd say you're doing just fine.
