Just curious if there were benefits

Everybody forgot to mention that the skin is loaded with good fiber and it also tastes better than a peeled potato. Even as a kid, I always wondered why anybody would go to the trouble to peel a potato. The only thing I can think of is its a poor quality one, but I know that folks just peel them because of habit and ignorance.

The only benefit would be to people who need to cut down on potassium , and they not only need to peel the potato but soak it in water for at least an hour and then drain and change the water ,before cooking.

Very few. The peel is actually more nutritious than the potato itself.

If the skin has a green color, it could be poisonous.
