It might just dry out her skin even more. If you go to a vet's office they have medicated shampoo that will help, but it's about $15-20 per bottle.

No, it's not ok. Human shampoo itself is bad enough, but this one is worse than most. If your dog has really dry skin, it's because she's either getting bathed way too often (that's the usual cause), or she's not getting a top quality food. You need to treat this problem from the inside out. Add a little olive or vegetable oil to her food every day - depending on size, you can give her 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon. Or, better than that, a salmon oil capsule daily. Or you can buy a product made for dogs called Linatone. Any of these will have your dog's skin and coat back in shape within a couple of weeks - especially if she's not bathed too often.

Its not the shampoo (unless you are over bathing once every 6-8weeks is enough) do not use human shampoo as it will dry it out worse. Use a good moist shampoo without glycerin. try tropiclean. As for the root of the problem you need a food with less grains and more meat. Wellness fish and potato is good so is solid gold holistique. Try any food with a fish base and no corn, wheat or soy as these are allergens. If the problem persists she has an omega 3/6 imbalance. add some flax-seed oil or salmon oil to her food at 50 drops per 10 lbs.

if your dog keeps itching at it, itll make everything worse
buy a cone so they cant itch
then go to the vet and get some medicated shampoo for dandruff
also, only wash your dog once a week
more than that can make the dogs skin produce more dandruff

Please be careful to not overdo it with all of the baths. Once a month is plenty for most dogs - what they need more are brushings (a Zoom Groom rubber brush is ideal) to stimulate the skin and circulation.
And no, Head+Shoulders is not OK for dogs. Feeding good quality food is a much better idea.

yr dog is reacting to rubbish in the diet - colourings and preservatives, etc. Give dog clean water and fresh meat that is organic for a while. Chop in some vege's like broccoli and green beans. if dog fat make it lose weight with vigorous exercise. Feed dog some fish oil capsules. rub some sorbolene and canesten antifungal cream into dogs reare end. and yes you can use the shampoo sparingly and once a week.

Get a shampoo with omega fatty acids in them for dogs. Human shampoos can only make her dry skin worse. Also try mixing a bit of can food in with her dry food or a table spoon of vegitable oil. It can help get oils in her system and help with her coat.

stop bathing her so much! Too much bathing dries out the skin.
Use a conditioner for dogs and work it down to the skin. Add some salmon or cod liver oil to her diet.

I use people shampoo on my dogs almost all the time I bathe them. Yes, it is ok, but as you said, keep it away from her eyes and ears.
