A human can mate sometimes at 11 years old, does not mean they should. A dog is not really mature at all until two years old.

I am a male and i think sixteen-18 is too younger but 19-21 isn't a lot better. People do not realize at that age the entire matters and changes that comes a man or woman's approach down the street. Persons change and they're going to meet a million more humans in existence. I think late 20's perhaps quality.

I believe most responsible breeders wait until both dogs are at least 2 years old before mating them. This gives you enough time to let the dogs mature and develop and see of they have any health conditions (hip dysplasia, heart murmur, etc.) that would make them unsuitable to breed b/c they could pass on their bad health condition.

Well, physically your male is old enough. But it would be dead wrong because he's far from old enough to have had his hips and elbows certified for hip dysplasia, CERF for eyes, nor is he even finished developing. You can't possibly know at this age if he's going to be an excellent specimen of his breed and thus be breeding quality.

As for some guy wanting to breed a 13 month old female - come on, you must know that she's much, much too young, and in her case it's much more than not being old enough for x-rays. Her body's not developed, she could suffer permanent skeletal damage.

You'd be wise to stay well away from a would-be back yard breeder like this one.

Females can go into heat as young as six months old. Can they be bred? Yes, should they? No. They aren't done growing and developing and breeding too young can have adverse effects on the dog.

Most males don't have enough sperm to properly breed until two years of age. The can breed before then, but it usually doesn't take.

So, if you simply must breed your dogs, wait until they are done growing.

Just because she goes into heat does not mean she is ready for mating. Way too young, should wait until she is at least 2 years old. Compare it to a girl. She starts her menstrual cycle at 11 yrs old, but that does not mean she is ready to bear a child. Same thing in dogs. It could cause problems that might even kill her. WAIT..

that is way too young.. neither dog is even fully mature yet! The female will not be old enough to breed for another year yet.

You do the right thing. Normally, breeders won't breed their females until the second heat cycle comes. Remember, once your male has been used, he always thinks about girls.
