I swear to you that no one really wants a favor. Really, truly, I promise.
With a fall/red theme you can do something gorgeous with fall fruit & leaves. Cheap and easy to pull together on short notice.

Go to your local discount store and purchase of bunch of huge glass bouquet vases. Pick out the most inexpensive ones. Buy six-inch floral candle wreaths, at Wal-Mart (about $6 each ) and put the vase in the center of the wreath. Fill the vase with various wrapped chocolates -- i.e. kisses, hugs. or candy's that go with the wedding colors. Also you could purchase little gift bags to put the candles that the mother of the bride purchase inside and attached a ribbon and a little thank you note that you could create on the computer. Good luck. Most of the guest will throw away the thank you gift, so don't spend too much money.

There is still time to bake the cookies if that is what you really want. Honestly, I have never been to a shower of any sort that had centerpieces or favors. A few games are played and the winners are the only ones to receive anything. I do not think anyone will mind not having a favor.

I highly reccomend goign with the chocolate on sticks in place of the cookies if you'd like to stick close to the origional theme. Candied apples may be a good idea, too, kinda fall themed and could be in a basket with flowers for an easy grab and take home treat. And little candies you can put in a cute fabric bag or plastic bag with a ribbon can be arranged in a floral arrangement in a basket for the center of the table. I googled for recipes, but you can dot hat just as easily as I can...

You could try buying cookies to fit in with your original plan, or get several of the least expensive fall bouquets available at your local grocery store and put them in the vases you had planned to use for cookies.
You could also try sprucing up the tacky looking candles with some sort of red/harvest ribbon or fabric from a craft store. Or you could maybe find some mini round cardboard boxes with lids (also at a craft store) and decorate them to look like wedding cakes and put the candles inside.
Good luck!

To be honest, bridal shower favors are not the serious. I say that because everyone will be so busy playing games until noone will really think of favors at the bridal showers.
I suggest that you do something simple. You can find some lollipops and place them in a pal using the colors and theme. You can make the cards to go with them. Here are a few photos below for ideas. Good luck and don't stress.

I agree that you should just go buy cookies either at a local grocery store or bakery. Since you already had that idea planned I am sure store bought cookies will not be a big difference.
I disagree that the favors are unimportant. I think it is a nice gesture for you guests, but I think the edible ones and functional ones are best. I like you cookie idea I think it is unique and I think you guests will also enjoy it.

What we do at our families wedding showers is get some family members to make themed baskets and draw names as prizes for people to take them home. or you could do chocolate candy molds on a stick instead of cookies. you can go to a candy store and get lots of colored chocolate chips to melt down and pour into molds. you can bake cupcakes and put the bride and grooms names on them. Good luck!

candy apple
2 cups light brown sugar, packed
2/3 cup water
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
6 to 8 apples with sticks
Combine brown sugar, water and corn syrup in a small, deep saucepan. Stir with a wooden spoon to blend; place over medium high heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil and continue cooking, without stirring, until the mixture is 290° on a candy thermometer.
Remove from heat and measure in lemon extract. When the mixture stops bubbling, put the first apple in the saucepan. Place apples on a buttered pan or buttered aluminum foil to solidify. To solidify quickly, immediately submerge the coated apple into ice water, then let drain on a dampened towel and place on the buttered pan.

-Skewers, popsicle sticks, or chopsticks

Put all of the ingredients together and evenly mix and heat until the sugar dissolves and the caramel drips with a creamy buttery appeal. Once completed, dip/roll your own caramel apple varieties

Since you are pushed for time, consider getting organza bags and fill them with a treat (candy, candle etc.). You can make the cards attached with them. See link below.
