This is when you were a kid or now as an adult......???

I mean, I noticed the daughter of a friend of mine will NOT eat anything if they TOUCH on her plate. Is this normal? Or not? Thought I'd throw it out here and see.....

Me? Certainly not.... no problems with food touching, in fact, some foods taste better when they do touch, flavors blend. YUM!

No problem with my food touching, sometimes I mix my food together. Next time you have mashed potatoes with corn, peas, etc. try mixing them together. Taste yummy :-)

your daughter's friend is pretty ridiculous with her meal habits then. there's nothing wrong with food touching each other on the plate. I know some forms of fod are meant to be presented on plate so that diner can actually have a proper look at it. Think about, steak, mashed potatoes and vegetables. They have to be placed in seperate sections of the plate, only cos it appears to have been a practice that so many people have followed. But there is nothing wrong any of the three types of foof touching each other on the plate. They flavor of the food might not be affected in anyway. Then think about dishes like rice and curry, where you actually have to mix the two things so that you get a even distribution of flavors. then think about other foods, like stews, pies, fried noodles and rice where everything is mixed together that you can't really seperate anything from each other. you daughter's friend probably have some psychologically problems about food touching together. how old is she? a lot of young kids are usually finicky about the way that food is presented to them.

I can not eat different foods on the say plate. Meat- one plate-mashed potatoes- another plate- green beans, yet another plate. etc etc. The only things that can mix are peanut butter and orange marmalade, on white bread and vanilla ice cream on Apple pie. I won't eat a burger, hot dog or sandwich. To many things mixed together. been like this since childhood. Drove my mother crazy. Now that I'm 55 it is starting to bug my wife. I have to wash my own dishes but since we have a dish wahing machine it's no big deal.

Absolutely and your friend should teach he daughter that food mixes inside you anyway so if it touches on the plate it is just fine. If she encourages this finicky behavior it can be a real mess to fix later. Good luck!

I don't like the food on my plate touch and I eat them one by one, I never eat a little of this then a little of that and back and forth. I always have to eat one thing first then move on to the next thing. My husband hates it, he says I'm too picky.

I'm a 220lb man working in the emergency services field, not only do I not mind my food touching, I prefer it. If I don't eat quickly I might not get to eat at all.

Starches, Carbs, Veggies, Meats... It just doesn't matter to me, as long as everything is COOKED, I loathe food that is under prepared.

I'm very picky. I have no problem mixing my corn and rice, unless I'm having tacos or some oriental food.

It really all depends.
