That is a shame, that dude can play, I haven't heard a lot of Kenny's stuff, but I do know he is good.
People will always be loyalist like look at Robin Trower people used to say he was a Hendrix wanabe, the guy was very good in his own right. I think this will be for Kenny too, now he gets flack but years later he'll get respect.
I should play pro myself, seeing comments like this I know the good and bad of it I guess and that is a plus to be ready for it.

All of that SRV hype about KWS was due to Kenny's overbearing, controlling father. Kenny was 16 when he first came on the scene and had NO control over publicity.
I'm tired of that guitar genre despite loving Ledbetter Heights.
I'm back to the old black guys again, the ones who inspired me to listen in the first place. Best wishes to Kenny, but as I've said before, I think his career will play out in small clubs forever.

Because when he first burst onto the scene, all the stories were out there as to how KWS sat backstage at some SRV shows as a boy.He also allowed his own people to put out the comparisons,it wasn't done by others. Then you have him playing gear like Stevie, right down to the very heavy gauge strings.Touring with Double Trouble doesn't help the rap on him ,either.Personally,I like Kenny and have seen him a few times(once with Double Trouble),but I think it won't be easy to get away from his own publicity. He's a very talented young man who should be able to find his way.

SRV was great but so is KWS in his own style, I think Kenny will lose that comparibility as he gets older.

I'd be thrilled to be compared to SRV, it's a compliment!
Just like you could compare SRV to Hendrix.

nobody's going to sound like SRV...
but SRV...
they're in the blues rock genre...
so their licks my be similar...
this may be mistaken as sounds like...
but their approach & attack are their own...
i have 3 of Kenny's cds...
they're great...
saw him with Satriani & Vai at a G3 concert...
he was awesome...
as far as Kenny's sound goes...
Kenny sounds like Kenny...
