whatever you choose - make sure you both like it and that you listen to ALL the lyrics!!! the reason i point this out is a wedding i went to earlier this summer didn't and it cracked me up!! the first dance was to "when she loved me" from toy story 2. if you know the story its about when the girl loved the toy - everything was great but then the girl grew up and forgot about the toy...is this really the sentiment you want as your first dance? THEN for the mother/son dance they chose "you're my best friend" from Tim McGraw. after the dance (and after i picked my jaw up off the floor) i discreetly asked the bride why they choose that song...her response was "we liked the line - you're more than a MOTHER you're my best friend!" last time i checked it was "you're more than a LOVER you're my best friend!"
needless to say i have been telling people since to listen carefully - or even check out lyrics on line if you're unsure.
to answer the question - i used cross my heart by George Strait.
congrats and good luck!

First dance wedding songs...
1). Forever and for Always by Shania Twain: isn't that what marriage is about? Being married to that person forever: it doesn't matter if you hate that person...you made a committment to stay with that person for better or worse.
2). If I Should Fall Behind by Faith Hill: this goes beyond the feelings of being in love. It talks about being committed to each other no matter what kind of roads the couples come across.
3). I'm in Love with You by Joy Williams: love this one. it's so amazing. Talks about being just married and how the waited moment has come.

We danced "I want to spend my lifetime loving you" from the soundtrack of the Mask of Zorro. Long title ;) but it had a little story for us, lyrics is beautiful and music has great rythym. We didn't want a super sloooow song.

The best first dance song is one that has significance for you and your fiance. Is there a song that makes you think of him? Or one from a favorite movie etc etc.

I think it should be a song that has personal meaning to you and your groom. We had This Years Love by David Grey, we love that song as it holds very special meaning to us.

Find a beautiful Russian love ballad - either a traditional folksong or a contemporary one.
We had one in Ukrainian for our first dance, and it was SO beautiful.
