"Is it because they don't want to take responsibility for the sins they commit?"

No, it isn't. This is false, insulting and arrogant. Isn't your imaginary god supposed to have some sort of problem with bearing false witness?

Most people who don't believe in god don't believe in god because of the complete lack of any evidence whatsoever to support the existence of any god. The arrogant, ignorant, hypocritical, hateful, and downright evil actions of believers have an effect too.

You, yourself, are a piece of evidence AGAINST the existence of god. If an all-powerful superbeing really existed, then it would be able to provide its followers with infinitely better arguments than those you use. The fact that you still spew lies, willful ignorance, and faulty logic suggests that you are not receiving such help, and therefore your god is either nonexistent or has no interest in assisting you in doing "his" work.

Some people don't believe in God because they see how other religious people respond to believing in him. Some (not all) people who believe in God, and are church-goers, just get too caught up in it. It seems as if they are brain washed, from my perspective. Believing in God doesn't mean that you can go do sinful things, and then pray for forgiveness. This is not taking responsibility for your actions. This is just asking for forgiveness. Just because you don't believe in God, it doesn't mean that you don't want to take responsibility for the sins that you commit. Some people don't believe in God because there are other Gods to believe in. I don't want it to sound lilke I am putting down this religion, but these are my opinions. I respect other peoples beliefs, but it's sad that some wish to take it too far.

Every time you ask yourself this question you will find yourself full of the LEFT side and very few others will stand beside you when you question in this manor.

Your much more intelligent than to read all that garbage that they post.
The Lord gave you mercy and strength and that is a blessings and grace. You have a choice and so do they, and if you make it then fine, and if they did the same well that is fine also.
You really have to wonder the intention and what is the main reason why they want to claim such fame on their own.
Will they out live the Lord... yet another likely story they all on the LEFT would love for you to join them in their torment and transgression.

You ask a very good question. I am a devout Christian, who is a practicing Catholic. Maybe some people don't believe in God because they have a very scientific mindset - everything has to be scientifically proven before they will believe something. It could be because they don't want to take responsibility for their sins, but it also could be because they don't believe in life after death. They might just believe that life just ends when we die, whereas Christians believe that we will see God. I hope that the people who don't believe in God do find him someday. I keep the non-believers in my prayers, with hopes of them someday opening their eyes, minds, and hearts up to God.

First of all, the things that Christians consider sins...there is nothing wrong with half those things. I do believe that there is some sort of supreme being, a creator if you will, I just don't believe that he/she/it/they take the form of the horrible God you believe in.

Actually I think the belief in a god is far more indicative of not wanting to take responsibility. Really. Believers can do any dang thing that they want to and still be forgiven, saved, and taken to heaven. No matter how horrid or despicable their actions, they can always get to heaven. They are forgiven all "sins" so where is the motive to be good people?

The rhetorical basis for this question is fallacious.

Belief in God and belief in sins (which as I understand it, are "affronts against God" for the most part) are tied hand in hand.

So, if someone does not believe in God, they can't sin! It is only when measured in regards to a belief in (a) God that sins exist. You can't describe a sin without even the most oblique reference to God.

As to why people don't believe, avoiding responsibility for sins is certainly *not* one of the reasons.

Do you believe in God solely so you can accept responsibillty for your sins? Probably not, but maybe that is the only reason, I dunno. I doubt that is your reason though.

More likely, I predict you bellieve in God because you were taught to by your parents and family elders from your earliest days, and the people in your community who your parents consider important re-inforced that decision. that is waht we call "socialization". Fine, be that way. I don't care :)

But not everyone grew up in the same sociological situation as you and so it is pretty close to preposterous to expect people would have the same results with different inputs.

Sort of how we are trying to force American democracy in Iraq and Afghanistan when it was the basis of several thousand years of evolution of specific tradition for us, that don't exist and never did, in those regions.

IOW, what is important for you (or me) may not be important for someone else, and that is reflected in our individual and group traditions.

So what? Welcome the diversity!

:)

People have found it more suiting to live by the law of the jungle than to live by the Law of the Father. Thus, they cling to theories such as evolution to support their neglect for moral responsibility and contempt for the truth. They like the way the world is as long as its convenient for them and it suits their purpose. But, their path to happiness is really the path of destruction. As if the atheist doctrines of Hitler, Mao, Stalin, and Pol Pot wasn't enough for them. They wont learn. And all the scientific breakthroughs in the world will not allow for them to recognise or appreciate the truth. It can't cure the disease of the heart.

Since it is by their own delusion, impossible to learn from their mistakes, they will perish. Their eyes are shut tight and their hearts are hard. The same way as was Pharaoh's when God led him into the destruction of all that he held dear. His heart was hard. His magicians convinced him that all was well and in his control. It was - to an extent. To the extent God willed. This brought about his own destruction. The same will be for the selfish arrogant people of this age who have convinced themselves that all is good while the world around them is fast eroding.

...And in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12.

sins are the mere ideas created by the mentally ill who created this religion and nothing more. Not only that, but relying upon something as ridiculous as Barney the Dinosaur is basically saying you have no faith in yourself and rely upon an imaginary being to relieve you of your sins as well as using that imaginary being to explain everything that happens to you.
Example:
Doctor: Congratulations sir, your operation to save your life was successful
Patient: Thank God!!!! Thank Jesus!!!!!
Doctor:ummmmm you know i am the one that removed that brain tumor from your head........
Patient: Oh right. Thank Mary!!!!

In order to take responsiblity for "sins", we must first have some reason to accept the existence of God and then there must be good evidence to support the idea that a certain religion, which claims to come from that God, is in fact from the God.
