although most of us don't - you should floss after every meal.
i'm more of a once or twice a day girl.
the floss should be as long as your arm expends. start at the top back - and floss in between and to the top left and right or each tooth. then, take the flos out - wrap it around your finger and expose clean floss (the bacteria you're pulling out of your mouth is disgusting - you don't want to put it back in).
Just keep going... then do the bottom. them rinse your mouth out.
and you're done.

I floss every time i eat crunchy foods such as cereal, chips and popcorn but not necessarily after eating softer foods such as pasta, macaroni & cheese or mashed potatos. If you can floss after every meal, that's great, but if you're like me and eat 5-6 small meals a day, it's almost impossible. a lot of people don't even floss once a day, let alone after every meal, so just do the best you can. And at the very least floss EVERY night before you go to bed.
cheers,
Shauna!
