Request and "Administrative Review" from the police agency that issued you the parking ticket. Either in person or on a form you will be allowed to explain your situation and the ticket may be dismissed before it is sent to court.
Be reasonable, explain without insult or anger, and they may just toss it!

Nope. You are not handicapped and neither is your girlfriend. Disabled parking is not a spot to park and wait, whether you were in the car or not. You're lucky that all you got was a ticket. You could have lost your car. It doesn't matter what time of the day it is or whether or not an establishment is open or closed. Consider this a lesson learned and leave handicapped parking spots to the handicapped. EMT

Handicap parks are there for diabled people. If you were disabled enough to warrant a permit, you would have one.
Back pain can be a major, but the fact is that you are not disabled and should not have parked there.
But try your luck with the council. Send in copies of your paper work and see what they say.

You can't. When your pain is as bad as mine, go to a doctor and have them fill out the application for a handicap parking permit like I and everyone else did.

The handicap parking sign does not say "handicap parking only unless of course there is no other parking available or you have a boo boo or other ailment".
If you had a back injury that was bad enough -your Dr may have been able to assist you in getting a temporary handicap parking permit.
Suck it up - you parked illegally.

Submit all your paperwork and attempt to get a placard. If deemed fit for one, you'll get one. But as far as you parking in a handicapped spot without a placard, no chance in fighting that. You knew very well that you were not authorized to do so. You should have taken the extra time to find additional parking, even if it meant walking a bit further. As harsh as it might seem to you due to your present condition, the law has to be enforced.

If you have no permit to park there, you are pretty much paying a ticket. There is NO way out of it. Not even if you are injured. You should have gotten a temporary permit from your doctor.~

The Judge will toss it in the lame excuses can. Whine all you want but you can bet you're going to pay a fine. BTW, don't show up for court on pain meds. The Judge won't care if the Dr gave them to you or not. If you walk into court, under the influence, it's going to be a long long day.
