The true blessing is the anonymous one. Done without public glory or gratification.

Back in the 1970's my Jehovah's Witness husband was unfaithful and left me for another woman. I was devastated. To cut a long and very painful story short, I started a new life for myself and disassociated myself from the organisation. For years, I wandered in a spiritual wilderness, wanting nothing to do with Jehovah's Witnesses in particular and religion in general. Then, on 30 March 1996, I was brought to a place of repentance and forgiveness at the foot of the cross. It was only when I looked back on the last 20 years that I could see how God had been directing me to a place of well-being. In spite of all my pain and resistence, the Holy Spirit broke down my barriers and I was healed. "The Lord sets the lonely in families" (Psalm 68:6). Although we might not realise it at the time, we are never alone when we find ourselves in dark places (Psalm 23). The Lord's timing is always perfect, and he knows us better than we know ourselves. "For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help" (Psalm 22:24). Yes, the Lord is leading us to places of well-being and blessing.

I was able to bless my co-worker today. I hope that she knows that it is truly from Jesus.

I've saved 4 people in my life. Call it what you will, but I'm glad I was where I was at the time.
