I might have to get 4 teeth pulled and I am really freaked. Is it better to get "happy gas" or novocaine. What makes your mouth the most numb? I have really low pain tolerance so whatever numbs the pain the most is what I will probably do! I'm open to other suggestions of stuff but those are the only two I have heard of...

when they inject the novocaine does that hurt a lot? Oh and does it still hurt when they are pulled if you have the novocaine? Sorry, I probably sound stupid but I have never had teeth pulled...

Novocaine I reckon.

Thats the injection one right?

I had 4 teeth pulled a few years ago when they put braces in - was so scared of the pain, but after the injection that feels like they are pressing on a bruise, I didnt feel a thing.... till the anasthetic wore off.

But it wasnt so bad as some people make out. Just had a bad nights sleep. Now I have gorgeous straight teeth that loads of people envy. So its worth it in the long run!

Forget that noise. I was knocked out.

They gave me some "laughing gas" to just relax me a bit, and then an IV with some sedative in it. I remember asking my dentist "how long will it take for me to fall asleep?" The next thing I remember was waking up with all my wisdom teeth pulled. I didn't feel, see, or notice a thing.

Get a sedative and go to sleep. The stress of healing is enough, so don't stress with the actual procedure.

Getting teeth pulled really doesn't hurt with injections alone. The laughing gas just is there to distract your mind. It's really not a big deal.

They work best together. Nitrous Oxide tends to elevate your mood and make you..giggly, whereas Lidocaine numds the surrounding tissue and Nerve. If you're really freaked out, ask if your dentist provides conscious sedation. They start an IV and give you Fentanyl(for pain) and Versed to relax you and cause some procedural amnesia. I perform conscious sedation several times a week and most patients olerate the procedure well and have little memory of the pain.

Happy gas is only used to relax you, you would still need the Novocaine. There are other alternatives, but they are usually used by Oral Surgeons such as conscious IV sedation and being put to sleep. If you are the nervous type sometimes the best option is being put to sleep.
If you only have the option of Novocaine or happy gas, take both. Happy Gas is actually Nitrous Oxide administer by a nose mask and can be used in conjunction with Novocaine.
Good luck

if they're pulling them all at once, you'll most likey get knocked out. even if they don't, you'd need novicain and happy gas.
