I will. And I pray that others will as well. Unfortunately, here on R&S you're going to get some blasphemous comments, just to irritate us Christians. One step at a time my friend. Maybe somebody here will see your sincere concern for what it really is, love for our God, and love for our country.

It's very noble that you are so concerned with the health and well being of the entire planet and specifically the United States (I assume you are talking about the USA which in in North America that we share with Mexico and Canada).
Really, you can not despair about the plight of the world. The only thing you need to worry about is your own relationship with God and be at peace. God knows what he is doing. Let live and Let God.
Personally, I feel pretty darn good about my relationship with God. How about you?
Another thing. 9/11 was done by people, not God (unless you think the people who flew the planes into the buildings are gods). Also, man is the one who put "In God We Trust" on the coins and in the anthems, not God. God had nothing to do with 9/11 or our currency or our anthems. There is no burning bush in the bible where the voice of God talks to the treasury department and says, "Thou must put my name on all currency." There is no moment during the parting of the red sea in which Moses has a vision that all national anthems must include tribute to God. Sorry. That stuff was mans idea. You should learn to separate the two.

I care that if all those things causes America to go into a handbasket for hell!
I can show you where in the relvant documents those legal issues are discussed.
Can you show me where in the Bible or other places:
Where does the Bible talk about America as a special blessed place to the detriment of all others?
Do you really think God cares about America as a country, more then s/he cares about, say, France, or England, or Namibia? what about coutnries that don't even exist any more or will exist in the future sometime? does god care more or less about them then America? How do you know? Because a song told you "God Bless America?"
Or is that just something we got into the habit of saying about ourselves selfishly, so often until some of us actually believed it and forgot why?
As for the Pledge of Allegiance, same thing: Where does the Bible discuss it? Do you know how that phrase got there in the first place? I don't know how old you are, but my parents, who are not so old, were in the middle of their school years when the allegiance was changed to mention God - it was not always there - it was a relatively recent addition. Ask your grandparents if you don't believe me :)
As for the rest, the fundamental legal issue is about the First Amendment. Laws may not be made favroing one religion over another, and that has generally been interpreted conservatively - that governement shall not participate in any religious activities in order to avoid even the perception that there is a bias.
Perhaps ironically, it is only (some) Christians that have trouble with all that....You never hear about any judges defiantly erecting Hindu shrines in their courthouse, even though there are surely judges for whom Shiva is as important as an image of an Bible episode inthe form of 10 commandment Tablets is to you.
Incidentally, earlier today I was reading on another blog (thestranger.com - look for Dan Savage's "Slog") about how Christians sometimes mistake the representation of a Biblical tale in art for God himself, despite biblical explanations that God can not be represented (also at the basis of the Moslem prohibition on images of Mohammed). Dan told this much better then I just summarized it.
So let's not mistake written or man-made representations of cliches of your religion for your actual god or even your actual beliefs. And I promise not to do the same for mine :)

9-11 was not an act of "God" it was an act of some extremist terrorists. Katrina was an act of nature and most of the damage was due to man made idiocy. And personally, even though I am not Christian, I don't care what it says on the money or in the pledge. I am not in school anymore and lets face it we never say the pledge except for in school. and I don't sit there looking at my money. I spend it. Finally "God" and the Bible seem to have a hold on America considering that there are a great deal of Christians here and some of them definitely enjoy beating up on anybody who does not follow their book.

Rally and campaign all you want - the unsaved will behave as the unsaved do. This is the world - as we know it.
Who is it that saves men? Who is it who leads them to repentance? Who is it that convicts our hearts? As you know, that would be the Holy Spirit. We are to share/preach the Gospel, but it is the Holy Spirit Who draws people, right?
To rally for God and the Bible in the U.S. is, essentially, useless. We simply need to be good witnesses and share the Gospel when and where the Lord opens up opportunity. Our job is not to get the world to conform to the way we want to live or the way we want them to live. Our job is to share the Gospel.

I feel your pain. Perhaps God has burdened your heart with this task of praying for America. You must look at Revelation to see how terrible of state this world will be in before Jesus returns. Salvation is the answer to all of life's question. Peace

Mankind has been sinful for all of our history, yet today, Americans enjoy a much higher quality of life then any of our ancestors, based on this logic I say we should continue with what we are doing.
If you have never read a book, bad things happened in the past too. I know it's hard to accept.

The reasons why America is falling apart has nothing to do with God. Seriously, look at what happened to the Romans. I see shades of that happening here. That society fell apart due to politics.

I agree, and I do pray for America, Its gets kind of sad to see what America has turned into, no one has respect for each other, we don't worship God as he ought to be worshiped, he is mocked all the time, but America deserves everything God will dish her. God Bless you for bringing this subject into light!
