In corresponding with a Christian today - I said that accepting and not judging other religions was our first step - as individuals - toward peace. He e-mailed me back saying - "the Bible says that antichrist comes under a banner of "peace" among all, and then goes on a reign of terror worse than the world has ever seen. So I don't trust everyone with a 'peace' message."

I think this is a judgmental, fearful way to live your life. So - I'm wondering. Do other Christians agree with him?

Ecumenism is a tool of satan.

Wikipedia:

Ecumenism (also oecumenism, œcumenism) refers to initiatives aimed at greater religious unity or cooperation.

Most commonly, ecumenism is used in its narrow meaning, referring to greater co-operation among different Christian groups or denominations. For some however, it may also refer to the idea of unity: that there should be a single Christian Church. In its broadest sense, the unity may refer to worldwide religious unity; here the vision advocates a greater shared spirituality across Christian, Jewish and Islamic faiths. Mostly however, the term refers to the narrow sense, that of greater co-operation among Christian groups without aiming for unity.

Religious pluralism (rel. comparative religion) is a loosely defined term concerning peaceful relations between different religions, and is also used in a number of related ways:

Religious Pluralism may describe the worldview that one's religion is not the sole and exclusive source of truth, and thus recognizes that some level of truth and value exists in at least some other religions.
Religious pluralism often is used as a synonym for ecumenism. At a minimum, ecumenism is the promotion of unity, co-operation, or improved understanding between different religions, or denominations within the same religion
As a synonym for religious tolerance, which is a condition of harmonious co-existence between adherents of different religions or religious denominations.

These movements are not of God. Jesus said that He was the only way to the Father.

Jn:14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The bible says that the antichrist will actually do what no one else has been able to do: broker a peace among warring nations. However, it's a false peace, because at the three and one half year point in the seven year tribulation period, this person will stand and demand to be worshipped as God. That is when God's wrath is poured upon the earth. No one in their right mind would want to be here for that.

There's nothing wrong with wanting peace. After all, Jesus did say, blessed are the peacemakers. But He was speaking of true believers, not false, deceitful people, and the antichrist falls in to the latter category.

Revelation 6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow, and a crown given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

This verse says he has a bow, but there are no arrows, He comes to make peace. He will be a world leader (a crown was given unto him) that will make a peace covenant.

Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week (seven years).....

The antichrist will be revealed only AFTER the rapture of the church (truly saved Bible believing Christians).

Read 2 Thessalonians 2:6-9, this talks about the restrainer being taken out of the way (verse 6), then the wicked one being revealed (verse 8). Verse 9 says that he will be after the working of Satan, which confirms this is the antichrist talked about here.

World leaders are setting the stage for the antichrist to be revealed. Peace agreements are on the table already in Israel ( Oslo accords, Camp David accords, etc) and none of them have worked. The antichrist will make the peace agreements that are already on the table work, though this will only be a "pseudo" peace. Daniel 9:27 and Revelation 6:2 confirm he will come in peace, but will break his covenant.

I agree with this man, but there is nothing to fear if you are saved. A Christian is to live in anticipation of the day when we are caught up to be with Jesus. Then, after this glorious event in Gods calendar, will the antichrist bring world peace(though it will be short-lived).

It is true the Bible says the anti-Christ will be a charismatic fellow, preaching Peace but bringing a reign of terror. It is an admonition to us not to accept any Tom, Dick or Jerry as the second coming. My life is not spent in awe of the coming of the anti-Christ. I await Jesus and do my best on Earth each day.

The antichrist will come under a banner of false peace. The person you emailed is correct.

your emailing friend is right. The Book of 1 Thessalonians 5 says

For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

Also, in 2 Thessalonians 2:4

who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God,(K) proclaiming himself to be God.

Christianity could be stated as a pretend faith because it became setup by way of Paul the Apostle in keeping with what he understood from Jesus no longer Jesus the Prophet who preached reformed Judaism!

it is true that the antichrist will rise to power on the world scene through peace & diplomacy .... w/ the Jerusalem issue.
however, christians are also suppose to be peaceful.

the enemy always wants to immitate God & that's how he will deceive so many people & take them to their deaths & to hell.

but christians are to live peaceably w/ one another if possible... not that we have to intimately associate w/ those who do not follow biblical doctrine.... but civilly.

He will try to deceive, and WILL deceive most.
He will appear to do miraculous things.
Check the end results of his works. It will be your best clue.
No true good will come of his works.
Deception and false information will be required to make it look like he does good.
(Sounds like today's main-stream media is a perfect forum for him.)
Is he here NOW?
