The best cereal is the one that has less than 5 grams of sugar, more than 7 grams of fiber and at most 20 grams of carbohydrates per serving & of course it has to be low in fats too & if you find one that is high in protein is even better.
My favorite cereals are:
Fiber One (General Mills)
Hi-Lo (Nutritious Living)
Flakes'n Fiber with Oats Cinnamon Flavor (Weight Watchers)
People don't realize that the amount of sugar does make a difference in the nutritional effects on your body, remember that sugars are stored as fat, so a low fat cereal that is high in sugar will not help you out lose weight.
I have been eating these cereals every day for almost a year and I snack on them too & my weight has being very stable.

Special K is not the healthiest but its not a bad choice...
I live their red berries cereal and I eat it twice a day and I am losing weight...
cheerios are very healthy

Kashi cereals are the healthiest ones in regular food stores but there are sooo many more to choose from in health food stores - go and check out.
p.s. if cereal says "made WITH whole grains" - its bs - only whole grain cereals are good

special k is good, just don't get the kind with the pieces of chocolate in it. kashi, smart start, fiber1, are all healthy cereals. stay away from captain crunch, frosted flakes, corn flakes, fruit loops....all that contains a lot of sugar, food coloring, and other processed chemicals

cheerios are the healthiest cereal. ur right, special k is not healthy and it does not matter which one. if u think cheerios are plain, cut up a banana and add it in. it will be even healthier.

Special K is prolly the best for weight loss.
If you are trying to watch your weight though, I recommend not eating cereal at all. Way to many carbs, yo.
