Just ignore them, if they want to tailgate you, let them, don't allow them to pressure you. If they think you're going so slow, they'll just pass you once the road allows. If you slam on the brakes or something, you risk getting into an accident or just antagonizing the person even more (saw two people do this on the highway, they were too busy screwing with each other that they didn't pay attention and slammed into the car in front of them during a traffic jam).

Yeah, I do purposely annoy those that tail-gate - if they wish to try and intimidate that is fine but I know by sticking rigidly to the speed limit hacks them of more than what they are doing to me.......either that or I blast my windscreen with water and in the process showering them with screen wash - they soon back of then!

As for pumping their horn - hey, I take no notice since they're generally the ones that know little about driving.

I would also like to add - and I'm not being sexist but I find the worst thing about tail-gating is that the majority of the time it is done by women. That has been through my expereince since learning to drive.

I really would love to lose my rag sometimes with some other drivers, I could easily lose my temper big time but unfortunately being a driving Instructor in a well advertised car I have to be Mr Cool no matter what.

I think we all do. However, I only do it when the person gets waay out of line. I've done slowing down, blocking people, cutting them off on purpose and finger-out-of-the-window package more than once :)

However if someone is stupid enough to drive 50 in the fast lane on the highway I tailgate them myself in a minute!!!

i find the answers to this question quite retarded.
every one of you that have answered yes, have admitted to driving just as erratically as the so called tailgater.
the road is not the place to play your silly games, surely it would be easier to allow them to pass
Your actions with your silly braking games can have serious consequences. If the person behind were to hit you you could both be hurt and the insurance wouldnt help in a knock for knock situation either. grow up, overtaking is not a crime but deliberate obstruction is

Of Course. I hate being bullied.

Top Tip. If you are Cutup/Tailgated by a lorry, get in front and slow down gradually until they have to change down the gears several times and the accelerate away leaving them behind. Take them ages to speed up and go through about 10 gears to do it. Really P***es them off.
( make sure you're not going to have to stop until you're well clear though!!!)

I do!!! I slam on the break if the person follows me close and I line myself up with cars next to me just enough so they can't pass =P

One car who tried to pass me going 85 mph after I quit playing him was caught by a cop 1 mile down the highway. It felt good seeing him getting pulled over.

I drive a very old car, and when an idiot tailgates me when am at the correct speed or just over ,I floor it and my, they get a shock when they blow there ENGINE up trying to catch me , what a bumer for the drivers mates, and am an old man witch also does his street gred no favours, so kid`s beware, grandad`s out for Halloween

it must be accepted that some ailgaters do not realise quite how close they are getting and sometimes it is only for a couple of seconds as they change lanes
