Religion is a tool to help us be better people. God is Love.

I like this bumper sticker....

God's too big for just one religion!!

There is only one true God, in three persons. The Bible is the only book that really has stood the test of time. Other religions can not even come close to the prophecies of the Bible. The Bible is the most acurate, and only Historical document for those time. If you are not born-again, you will not have eternal live, John 3:3. Jesus is the only way John 14:6.

You are correct. There is only one God.
There are so many religions because we are all capable of having a different understanding of the nature of God.
Being falable humans, we each tend to follow what we feel is correct. (Assuming our motives are honorable).
If we thought we were wrong, well, we would change our religion, wouldn't we?
I don't think ANYONE is truely correct in their knowledge. Me included.
I have my own opinions about God and I am agnostic. I am agnostic because my opinions don't seem to fully match those of any religion I have ever studied. I have learned from all of them I've studied, but do not 100% agree with any one of them.
I have a strong faith in God, but rarely share it with anyone because I find few who can allow themselves to shift their fixed views of their religion long enough to consider other posibilities.
I would start by pointing out there is only one source of LIFE. That one source is God. There are many life "entities", but only ONE Source. Therefore there can be only one God.
That source exists outside of the physical universe and is not in itself physical. Humans find it difficult to understand something that is not physical so we tend to try to explain spiritual matters in physical terms. That cannot be accurate, but we still struggle to understand, and argue details.
Life created the physical universe.
Physical matter cannot create life.
Those statements are only a start.

Some religions have one god, some two, some three or more.
The biblical god tells us to kill family members who want us to worship other gods.

In reality, though, there's even less than one.

Nobody has ever provided any evidence that any gods, much less a specific god, exist. People believe in specific gods because of indoctrination from an early age, tradition, hallucinations, fear of torture (for gods sadistic enough to threaten it) and other similarly illogical reasons. But no gods exist in reality; these are all stories, created for people who were scared of the world long before we understood it. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

They are false religions. Unless you believe Jesus is the Savior, there is no hope. Only one God one Faith one Baptism. Jesus is the only way to the Father.

Thank goodness you cleared that up. The Aztecs, Egyptians, Mayans, Greeks, Romans, Babalonians, etc... were kinda confused and needed someone to point out how frigging stupid they were for worshipping multiple deities for hundereds and thousands of years.
Whew. Glad that was cleared up.
Do you detect my sarcasm? I'm laying it on pretty thick.

People. They let their emotion, desires and lusts become part of their interpretation. Take the rapture, I was covering it with a preacher once and he said he wanted to believe it because he did not want to go through the tribulation. This is not how to interpret the Bible.

The reason there are so many different religions is that there are *no* gods in reality.

as long as there are multiple people, there will be multiple perceptions of spirituality.

even if you and someone else use the same terms and names, and seem to agree on a lot, there will still be subtle differences of perception.
