Good lord... if that kitten was still being milk-fed when your friend got it, it wasn't ever taught how to act properly by its mother. Or she could have some sort of illness that's making her act strangely - has your friend ever brought it to the vet??

If your friend chooses to bring it to the "pound", she doesn't have to say anything about it being supposedly bipolar. They'll make sure the kitten is healthy and do a temperament test to make sure it's not dangerous.

I've never heard of a cat being called bipolar.

Your kitten is doing kitten things and WILL do kitten things till they're about 6 months old. The biting can be toned down by not letting them use your hands for play things. Patient training gets the kitten into better social habits with humans.

It's not bipolar and your friend is probably using her hand to play with the kitten. Almost all kittens do that. Sometimes putting a biter with another kitten is the best thing--they bite each other a few times and figure out that it hurts, and that makes them stop.

It's a cats nature to use claws and teeth. It's a survival thing in cats. All cats bite and scratch during their lives. If it's play, if the cat is hurt or if it's scared. I have never heard of a bipolar animal.

It is a baby. If they take it to the pound don't say anything about being bipolar. Where is this vet at? It sounds normal to me. I have had cat for years. Does your friend want to get rid of it because of the biting?

I'm not a trained vet, but I honestly do not believe that a cat can be bi-polar. As you said, the little one is more than likely learning how to use her claws and teeth as a weapon (or during playtime).

aren't all cats bi-polar? both of mine sure change moods quickly... one minute my kitties are all lovey and want pets and the next minute they shred my hand for petting them. all of the cats i've ever had have been that way.
