This is a grey area. As long as you're not asking the doctor's office or staff to change the date of your visit, it should be okay, especially if you ask them ahead of time. Many states have medicaid go retroactive three months, but you need to verify that - it could make for an ugly surprise later. (Because if your medicaid is not valid at the time of service, you can be billed.)

Now, if you ask the doctor's office to "say" that the visit was after the medicaid kicks in, that's fraud, and illegal.

He has to agree to accept you as a Medicaid patient, which he might not want to do if you're not actually on Medicaid.
