My cat is drinking and peeing a little too much. i think i should take her to the vet but am afraid of the bill as i am sure they will have to run tests. Anyone have a ballpark estimate as to how much it would cost?

An office visit can run you up to 60 dollars depending on where you live.
A cat who is drinking and peeing alot should have a complete blood panel and urinalysis performed.
The blood panel and urinalysis will let the vet understand how well the cats kidneys are working. Also it will alert the doctor diabetes or infection.
Expect to pay 100 bucks on the blood work and 60 bucks on the urinalysis.
If there is a urinary tract infection a culture and sensitivity should be done to direct the vet to the proper antibiotic. Otherwise its an educated guess on the vets part. A culture and sensitivity is about 120 bucks.
Don't let the dollars signs stop you. The longer you wait the more it will cost you.
Tell the vet you have limited funds and need an estimate before anything is done.
Trust me they will be more than happy to work with you.
I would have at least 200 dollars available to get the bare minimum done.
Otherwise you can apply for care credit which is available through most animal hospitals.

Less than $500. I would ballpark $250. It's usually the diagnostics that add up and not the actual treatment. It is likely you will need a blood test and that can be between $45 and $95 depending on what they are testing for.

When you get a pet, you have to assume that they will be sick at least twice. Once during their lifetime and once at the end of their lifetime.

Standard checkup fee if $35 here. A quick glucose check from the drop of blood would be $15. A sugar check on the urine would be $20.

You'd need to ask first what tests they want to do, ask the price, then ask why each test needs to be done. Make an informed decision and assess charges that way.

The only way to find that out is call vets in your area.

**** But if you want to try and make it cheaper call your local ASPCA, or Humane society. They usually offer vouchers for you to see a vet at a way discounted price (like 50% less) or if the local chapter is big enough they might take care off you kiity for free****

You can find the numbers for these organizations or similar ones in your local phone book or yellow pages.com.

If they do blood tests it could be $100-$150. I'm sure if you just call them and tell them what's up they can give you an estimate.

$100-150

However, if you don't get it taken care of you won't have to worry about the vet as your cat could die.
