I prefer to be honest and say, "I don't know and neither do you." Rather than making assumptions or holding baseless beliefs.
Maybe someday we will know, until then I find it dishonest to try and credit it to something even more complex and unknowable. (Which, if not requiring a creator, why do we assume the universe requires one?)

I like what you said "without a start there can be no end."
The fact that people on this earth die, is proof that life (physical life we know) comes to an end. The fact that people are born constitutes a beginning. As has been studied in accordance with the beginning and end of life, we see that life had to have a beginning in order to have an end. That is proof enough that life originated from somewhere. And also...as complex as life is....it had to be created by someone with an "intelligent design." Because everything down the number of atoms in a cell, and the components of a molecule, to the limbs on every human's body...to the numbers of hair on your head, to the variations of color....are precise.
So no I don't know why people dismiss the notion that a higher being exists..... Lots of people don't want to acknowledge something greater than them is out there. But I can say that I believe one does...and I want to acknowledge his name as God.
God Bless you

Right now I am believing myself to be just some very smart dirt. Being dirt is fun and uncomplicated. You should try it some time. When you are just organized dirt, prime movers, first causes and all that unaswerable stuff is meaningless. When you are smart dirt you can appreciate other forms of smart dirt, like flowers and puppies and all the cool things that being smart dirt has to offer. I imagine that a long time ago dirt wasn't as smart as it is now and it took awhile for us to be more organized, in small baby steps I suppose. On into the future maybe dirt will get a little smarter and very much more complicated and maybe dirt will create a singularity travel back in time or another dimension and recreate itself from it's most simple form. Or maybe such nonsense is impossible. I don't really care.

Yes all this we all and the universe come from somewhere , and from someone,
as SUN have not made itself , Earth have not made itself and we men have not made our hearts beat,so there must be a creator ,
it is not only about thinking of the possibility,
but we are bound to believe of some creator of all that what exist ,
then who is the creator ???
Our creator sent his prophets to tell us about him,
As a known history of man we know Abraham talked about GOD , David , Jacob , Solemn , Joseph , Moses , Jesus and Mohammad (peace be upon all of them) talked and teach ed us about GOD , the creator of all ,
Such a continued evidence (upon the supreme being , our creator , the GOD ) is itself is such an irrefutable proof that cannot be denied,
(even science cannot produce any example of such a "continued evidence" upon its theories or today's established facts),
discussion is continued but for now its enough.

Well, well Jerome F....lookee here! Keeping it neutral for all! The entire universe has not been explored, and in fact, still unknown, they're still arguing what a black hole is! Wow! If not all questions can be answered, how can you completely rule out the aspect of a "higher being" existing? I'm in awe...

your logic can equally be applied to the existence of god. He must be more complex than the universe so he must have had a more complex creator. Maybe he's in that jar of strawberry jam

Well it is obvious that most argue against a Creator out of blind ignorance and egoism, some argue this because this is the rubbish they have been fed all through their school days.

I believe in the possibility of a higher being, but my definition of a "higher being" is simply a being that is far evolved beyond that of myself. We are "higher beings" to ants.

You're just shifting the explanation (how the universe exists) to something imaginary and unexplainable (god). Why not just try to understand the universe instead?
