Let's pretend that science has unequivocally proven the existance of God.
Even if there is a God and he did create the universe and everything in it, what makes you think he cares at all about human affairs?
Why would a God that can and did create a vastless universe (think about the amount of solar systems in our Milky Way galaxy alone, and it's probably a million million other galaxies) care what the hell a small insignificant human does or thinks?
To sum up what I'm asking, doesn't subscribing to religious dogma make even less sense than just believing in a God?
And if it does, why recognize religious dogma at all?

Arf Bee: No. Scripture doesn't make it make any more sense than it does already (none).

Science has proven the existence of God. And the reason we adhere to God is not only because He exists...But that we exist for a reason...and the reason we exist (as humans) is because He made us for himself. All of mankind was created in God's own image...because we are supposed to be children of God.

Okay....so pretending science has "proven" God exists is the scenario. Taking the 1st question, why would God care about human affairs? Because he created everything, and like a caring Father to a child, wants to be involved in His children's lives. Why would He care about a small insignificant human? So we can spend eternity with Him in Heaven. As a non-believer, of course it makes no sense! As a believer, I know it is indigestible, so just don't swallow it, the selective taste isn't for everyone. Christians believe because of faith, not science, friend.

if you want proof that there is a God check out Thomas Aquinas' 5 proofs of God's existance. They are impossible to prove wrong.
But your question isnt about the existance of God, its about why God would care about humans in the vast and endless world he created. God cares about us humans because to Him we are is most amazing of all his creations. We were created in His own image and likeness. He gave us the ability to reason and think, an ability that sets us apart from all His other creations. He gave us a soul, freedom to make our own choices, God gave us wisdom, knowledge, the ability to love and feel compassion towards someone, and a sense of morality. No other creation of God has such gifts. We are God's most amazing and awesome creation, which is why He cares so much about us.

Well, if God is what everybody says "He" is, I imagine no detail would be too insignificant for the almighty.
I think you're right. It seems there are more people who simply believe in God (maybe they just have a hunch) than folks who follow the Word dogmatically.

I think you don't know what "Dogma" is.
Dogma is a truth appertaining to faith or morals, revealed by God, transmitted from the Apostles in the Scriptures or by tradition, and proposed by the Church for the acceptance of the faithful. It might be described briefly as a revealed truth defined by the Church
And I don't think the Universe seems "vast" to God.

Pretty much my conclusion, too. I'm grateful to he/she/it for the universe and my life, but I don't think he/she/it is "up there" listening to 6 billion people's different wants, needs, and issues 24-7.
We've anthropomorphized God, and also invented convoluted arguments why God is responsible for everything good but nothing bad--it makes more sense to me to say God is above both of those things and doesn't intervene in the world he/she/it started. It's our job to use our brains and treat each other right.

Lets pretend that you are married and have kids. Why do you care about you child when their are hundreds of thousands of other kids in the world? You child must seem pretty small and insignificant in that case then...but no. It's your child, of course you will love your child, protect your child, and want the best for your child - so why should it be any different with God, our creator??

Perhaps this scriptural passage may shed some light to you:
"Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God..." --Isaiah 58:2.
Peace be with you.
