whats so bad about having non native plants?

like i was reading that theyre like chopping off plants because
they're not from that state and stuff. but why is that so bad?

Non-native plants run a risk of becoming an invasive specie. An invasive specie can wreak havoc on ecosystems, not to mention local economies. Worldwide the cost of dealing with invasive species tops a trillion dollars.

Not all are bad. But some non-native plants can force out native plants that are important to the ecosystem. In the South, for example, kudzu vines have covered thousands of acres. Plants that wildlife rely on for food are being lost. In the West, purple loosestrife is taking over cattle pastures, making it hard for ranchers to feed their cattle. In many areas, hyacinth is covering over lakes and rivers, choking the oxygen from the water and killing all the fish. There are many such examples.
