I like the 'sweet and tart' apples, but I can't eat them raw anymore ... so Granny Smiths are my favorite, since they make a 'tart' applesauce and a great 'apple pie' ... my husband makes the BEST apple pie ... with cranberries and almonds added. YUM! I'll be able to eat raw apples in awhile (I need surgery first, though) but I don't know if I'm going to 'admit it' if I can get him to make me some more of those wonderful pies!

My favourite apple is an Orange Cox's Pippin. The apple just bursts with all full sweet and sour flavours.A beautiful English eating apple. When cooked in the oven with a few sultanas the taste is just gorgeous.

Fuji for eating out of hand - sweet and crunchy.
For cooking, Granny Smith - doesn't disintergrate as other apples do.
