Yes....place broccoli in a pot that has a lid, season the broccoli, add 1 inch of water in the bottom of the pot, and cover. Cook for 5 minutes or until broccoli is tender. This is the method I always use at home!

When I prepare broccoli, I don't have a steamer. I usually clean the broccoli first really well, then I put it into a stainless steal pot that I have a lid for. I add about an inch of water to the bottom of the pot. I put the pot on the burner and turn it on medium. The pot is covered with the lid. After 15 - 20 minutes, I check to make sure the broccoli is tender. If not, I cook it a little longer, if so, I remove it from the burner and take it out of the pot to stop the cooking. Then use it in another recipe or serve as a side dish with whatever I'm having for dinner. Good luck with steaming your broccoli.

I sometimes the way Apples does but I cut a deep cross in the stem. So the stem gets cooked the same time like the flowers. The water I use for a broccoli cream soup.
Sometimes I take the microwave. After washing the broccoli, crossing the stem. I'll put it in a microwave pot and expose it for three minutes to radiation. Then three minutes wait. Two minutes radiation, two minutes wait. Then I look into the pot. If the stem is not well cooked another minute radiation.
The same way I do with cauliflower, but when I steam it I use my pressure pot.

Fill a large pot up with an inch or two of water, and bring the water to a boil. Then set a colander into the pot so the colander doesn't touch the water, and place your broccoli into the colander, place a lid onto the pot and cook until the broccoli is nice and tender.

Toss it in with the boiling pasta for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking time, and drain it right along with the pasta. Just don't forget to salt your cooking water or it's going to taste really bland.

In the microwave...
1. Prepare your vegetables for cooking. After washing thoroughly, cut vegetables into equal-sized pieces to ensure even cooking.
2. Place vegetables in a large, microwave-safe bowl (a glass bowl, for example).
3. Add water to cover your vegetables the water should be shallow in the bowl.
4. Cover the bowl with microwave-safe plastic wrap and turn over one corner to vent.
5. Microwave on high for 4 to 8 minutes (depending on thickness of vegetable) or until your veggies reach the desired consistency.

I saw a new commercial a few times for these new steaming bags that you put veggies in and microwave for just a few minutes. It sounds great to me. I will be getting them on my next shopping visit. Unfortunately I don't remember the brand, but you should find them on the isle with the Glad and Ziplock bags.
