Hi, I'm going to be an Operation Specialist and I was wondering what type of civilian jobs are related to that field?
What should I major in when I decide to go to college?

As an OS you will have training in electronics, communications and telephone systems, could be a good field as a telephone repair person or IT specialist, or air traffic controller.

how about business, you could go into management or HR. Every business in america has an HR person, it's a safe and steady field to go into.

Whatever you do don't major in technology. At reputable companies almost all of those positions are filled by H1B visa workers from India and China. It would be very tough for an American to compete, and you would never, ever get the same types of bonuses, promotions, pay, and job security that you would have doing a tech job in the military.

The truth is that nothing is related to OS. On ships they are called "scope dopes." They work in the Combat Information Center where they monitor the radars and plot contacts. They also work on the bridge updating the plot.

The problem with the rate is that they are not trained in any aspects of the technical troubleshooting and repair of their equipment. They are just operators.

Pick a rate like Sonar Tech or Electronic Warfare Tech. They work in the same kind of environment but they are also trained to take care of their equipment.

I would advise going into Emergency Mangement. Especially now that military is going into the "EM" route more than anything. With military background you may also receive pooints for easily acquiring a GS (General Services) job. Every county and many cities are currently hiring emergency managers at some level. Very good market with little chance of fading away.

HR is Human resources, the guys responsible for hiring and training employees.

however, OS is NOTHING like that. OSs run the radar on the ships and submarines, as well as plotting ship's position and telling Combat where the bad guys are.

its a very cool job, as you will be on the bridge of the ship in the heart of the action.

ignore telling them approximately your GED. you're a college student. As for any activity l might recommend lowering that right down to approximately 4 or 5. you won't have the capacity to be a base commander to illustrate. Ask in case you are able to take a attempt to work out the place can slot in. you in basic terms may well be shocked and in case you a job that does require you to circulate out to sea then you definately can circulate to college at night this is that if there's a college on your section.undergo in recommendations this and undergo in recommendations this properly the government desires comes until eventually now your desires. Ask to take a try.
