Regardless of who won, we would still have a corrupt government. The difference being that states would have even greater power to abuse since a confederacy gives more power to states and less to a central government. At the same time, because states would have more power, you would likely find gay marriage legal in some states but not in others since only a federal system would bother to restrict the rights of states so much. You would also likely find some states with abortion legalised and others where it would be illegal. Either way, because it would still be governments of people it would still be corruptable. Personally I am happy the North won since it served to abolish slavery, but at the same time, it is sad that an entire half of the country was economically destroyed because of it. The south was an agricultural economy that relied on slavery to be profitable. The north was an industrialised economy that relied on cheap immigrant labor. The reason why we use illegal immigrant farm labor is because it is cheap and allows farmers to make a profit without charging large sums for their products. Also another sad result of the war is the resentment it made in the south toward the former slaves thus giving rise to extremist race-hate groups. The north was no paradise either since discrimination existed and still does, but the point is that until then, there was no KKK.

What war of northern aggression?

I remember the south attempting to secede (sp) shortly after Ft. Sumter was attacked by recruits from the Citadel who favored the southern States viewpoint.

Had the south won, Likely there would be two countries sitting in the area that is the USA.
The Confederate States of America and the United States of America. although the south may have changed its name after some time.

The War of Southern Stupidity was a lost cause from Day 1, just as Japan was doomed after Pearl Harbor. Watch Gone With the Wind again and listen when Rhett Butler tries to tell others that the Confederacy lacks the industrial base to fight any kind of drawn-out war.

Of course they shouldn't have. They clearly lacked the resources, tactics and technology to win.

Honestly, they lost the war well over a century ago. Why do people still care? You're all Americans now, so act like it. Give it a rest already, the Southern states are happy where they are.

Well if you consider slavery honest.............Here's a little picture of how honest the south was. This is from the constitutional convention of 1884. When the government as we know it now was origianlly being planned. Naturally finding it to ther advantage the slave states wished to ocunt their slaves as people. However, for purposes of taxation they wished to exclude slaves, considering them property rather than "human". Non slave states insisted that this was unfair. In the end, both ofr purposes of representation and taxation, slaves where counted as 3/5ths of a person. And let us not forget the later disinfranchisements of black voters in the southern states, the Kul Klux Klan and race riots. All of southern origins I believe. I will also mention that I had never before seen a Klu Klux Klan memorial grave in all my travels until I walked through a cemetery in College Park, GA. It was really dissapointing as the man was a minister of God, yet hated his fellow man. Look, corruption knows know state line, color, country, religion or sex. It is equal in it's recruitment of people willing to put their conscience aside for personal gain. That gain is usually money or power or both.

Of course not. I am southern, you are a southerner that is misinformed and likes to be that way. Could you seriously support the rights of a State over that of the Federal Government, and slavery? Our Nation would not have endured.

If South won, then Mexico and Canada could have teamed up and took control of USA and many would be trying to sneak into those countries.

Technically they did! Ever hear of the Jim Crow Laws? Ever seen the line to a homeless shelter or a free soup kitchen? Ever seen the statistics for Welfare in America? Ever seen the statistics for the American prison system?

The North "claimed" victory, but the South TOTALLY is still in control.
