I would say they experienced an internal epiphany from their subconscious which made a very real change in their attitude, perspective and life.
It happens to people in all religions. Christianity isn't the only one. What would a Christian say about a person testifying that Ganesha changed their life?

It changes because they MADE it change. They could have done the same thing on their own, without "accepting Christ".

God had nothing to do with it. They grasped onto an idea when they hit bottom and credited god for their own actions and Satan for deceiving them.
