There are people in this world who make these things up just to ruin life's small pleasures for the rest of us. It IS true that all types of soda are acidic, and can damage your teeth and leach calcium from your bones if consumed excessively.

Most, if not all diet drinks include aspartame which I read breaks down into formaldehyde (yes, the same fluid used in preserving corpses) - supposedly only when consumed by rats (right). Never the less, it is carcinogenic. The liver breaks down and converts consumed substances. Essentially everything you eat/drink in some way shape or form passes through the liver. So, yes it's possible.

Not sure about your liver, but cola's of any kind can and do damage your bones.

Any kind of pop, or soda will damage your liver if too much is consumed.
