I use to be really good at cooking, make gourmet meals every night of the week except for 1 day of the week we go out for dinner.
My husband embarrased me infront of his american friends that I cook the fish with the head on. Now I can't get motived to cook. I just can't think any more of what to cook.
Any advice on how to put it behind me and get back to normal.

Oh darlin', I bet he didn't realize that his comment bothered you. Let him know it hurt you and then prove him wrong with a smashing new recipe!

Next time serve him a plate of fish heads and it'll become a joke between you two. :)

What harm did that do? A lot of people cook fish with the heads on. At some very good restaurants they cook and serve it that way, so why are you letting this upset you. Do you think that he was trying to make you look bad in front of his friends, or was showing them how good of a cook you are? You need to move past this, if you really enjoy cooking.

I generally cook fish with the head attached.... the best part of the fish is found in the zygomatic arch and I even suck on the eyes!
Don't be bummed out... not worth it. I've recently have been asking my fish monger to fillet my fish (I don't feel confident enough to do it my self even though I've got knives that would make your head spin). This is actually been a fun thing to have done because you can make fish in many more ways than you can with the head attached.
Feed your hubby canned spaghetti for a week or so and he'll drag his tongue through ten miles of fish heads to have you prepare him (and his wise ars Yanki friends) a serious mean again.

PS - where is your husband from, Sheboygan?

I'm sorry this has happened to you because you seem to have enjoyed cooking so very much. I know that when we try to accomplish something at home, we want the approval and appreciation from those in our home. However, deep inside, did you cook only to please the others, or did you truly enjoy it for yourself? Another way to ask would be, if you were living alone, would you have enjoyed cooking just for you?

Try cooking again simply because YOU enjoy it, and then cook again for the same reason, and then again & again. It will come back to you and somehow, someday, those hurtful words will hurt less and less.

Stay with your joys and your joys will increase!!

My wife is from the Philippines, and she cooks the fish with the head on, then eats the eyeballs! (Yuck!) But that's her custom, and even though I sometimes tease her about it, it doesn't discourage her.

It sounds like you have other problems. If you are so sensitive about such a trivial matter, what about something important?

I think you'd better step back and look at the bigger picture.

Let me assure you , cooking (head on fish) is culinarily correct, and gives a wonder full presentation. Proper is Proper, Ignorant is Ignorant..
