NOTE...i said SOME christians
seem to promote hate and anger at anyone that does not believe as they do?
i thought peace and love was the goal of christianity.
if that is true then where does all the hatred come from?

SOME Christians do this because they are not trying to achieve the goals of Christianity.

If A is doing B.

But if A claims to be C.

ANd if C 's goal is to be G and not B.

Then A is not C.

***UPDATE***
Ok, I know that was retarded, but I wanted to add:

THANK YOU FOR SAYING SOME. I RESPECT YOU FOR THAT!

There are some denominations that have as a part of their belief system that you HAVE to proselytize, or you are not a true Christian, and you will be held responsible for the opportunities you had to tell others about Jesus and neglected to do so.

But people aren't going to listen to what you have to say, Christian, atheist, whatever, if you put them on the defensive by saying it in a disrespectful or hateful way.

I don't personally feel judgmental on non-believers. My sister's religion is Agnostic and I am Christian. She's a jewel. Older Christian's depending on how long they have been going to the same church, the same pastor (key), also lack of an evangelism experience can influence their behavior. I'm getting this from my mom who is An E.E. leader for our Church. Evangelism Explosion is a Christian program that teaches it's believer's to learn the gospel, share it, and equip others in their church. While using kindness, not being pushy, you know it's good stuff I did it, but I'm more comfortable with phone calls and praying :)

Well the Bible seems to encourage genocide, homophobia, sexism, racism, etc. Perhaps THOSE Christians you refer to in the question are descendants of Christians who skipped the Age of Enlightenment and are incapable of adapting to life outside of the Dark Age. Just a thought.

They obviously aren't true Christians. Some people label themselves Christians just because they go to church every Sunday and believe Jesus died for our sins. Actions speak louder than words. There's "true" Christians, then there's "wanna be" Christians. Don't let the "wanna be" Christians fool you.

Jesus calls us to love our neighbor.
Religion often makes it about "us" vs. "Them" and when that happens, and we become exclusive, then we can start to discriminate or be hurtful towards others that we should be loving on.
If your Christian friend is being hurtful, then you need to get new Christian friends.
Understand though, that this doesn't mean that a Christian ought to "agree with your lifestyle". They need to love you despite your lifestyle.

You are wrong, the goal of Christians isn't peace and love, but to spread the good news of Jesus and his death on the cross for you.

Jesus said, If they hated me they will also hate you." He said this about those he tried to tell that he was the Son of God and they laughed him to scorn then crusified him. If I tell someone that Jesus is the Only Way and they feel angered it isn't me that they are angry at because I'm just relaying God's word to them.

I could ask the same from the so-called atheists in this site (some, not all). I've honestly never seen so many angry, rude, insulting creatures in my life. I know its not their atheist belief, as mature atheists are not like these bashers and trolls, but gotta wonder why these bashers and trolls spend so much time in this section and sure wish they'd leave.
