.The business of putting it right is then left to the children to sort out. Is that love?

After the party, SOMEONE has to clean up the mess

Would it be love to NOT give them the chance at life? There is always the yin and yang of a situation. And there ARE responsible people right now trying to sort out the messiness of the world, to be able to pass a better one down to their children. So what are YOU doing about this "hazarous"-get spell check- world? Anything active besides questioning people's ethics? If you think it's wrong, don't have kids.

I agree Henry and I resign to the dirty facts of the world. To procreate does not require much thinking, just sex drive and I too am ashamed that more people can't better control this drive. They'll have children and they are dirt poor! Although I feel pity, would it have been a much better scenario had they planned to have only 2 maximally instead of 4 or 5 or even 12! This is one topic that would have driven me up the wall years ago, but I am now much calmer about the issue I can simply state my own opinions and move on.

Wow! Where did THAT come from?

Interestingly enough, you have a point to a CERTAIN extent in that children should not be brought into this world in a haphazard, irresponsible way.

Just because the world is so challenging these days, it is all the more important for parents to PLAN for children and actually WANT the children they bring into the world and be totally committed to giving them the best advantage to making a success in the world and doing something good for it (it CAN be done).

Children by accident by parents who never really wanted to be parents or are not ready to be parents is not wise.

It would be interesting for a study to be done on the outcome of children who were either adopted or planned by prepared parents who wanted them versus children who were accidents.

You are soooo right. I fell pregnant by accident and thats something I struggled with for months...the guilt of bringing an innocent child into this sick world. I still feel guilty but love conquers over everything and my love would not allow me to have an abortion. I will do everything in my power to protect her from all harm..but not everything in life is all bad and I feel better when I think about how I'd rather be living this life than be dead...there is so much to enjoy and so much love to experience too and I believe that one day there'll be less crime and a better world to live in!

Yeah. It's not love when one generation goes into debt for pure indulgence, leaving the next generation to pick up the tab.

Love is unity. Parents who join with children to combat the hazards of the world do love each other. I also have no problem with parents protecting children against the worlds hazards and later their adult children protect them when they are old.

Hmmm.... my father and mother had six children. We grew up in a poor area with a high crime rate. I think the problem is society as it exists today. People used to have several children because medical technology was not as advanced as it is today and it was to be expected that some children would die before they reached adulthood. Also, many families grew there own crops and had many children so they could put them to work in the fields. The problem that exists today is that children seem to think their parents owe them something when in fact it is the child who owes the parent for giving them life to begin with. Life itself is a gift, its to bad most people are so self centered that they can't see that. I think you are confusing love with money. Children need to begin to take some responsibility for their actions and stop being whinny little bums. ;-)

The world has always been hazardous since day 1.
Regardless of your belief in Creation or Evolution, our earth has been in a state of turmoil in development since The Beginning. Huge storms, extreme temperature changes, volcano eruptions, meteorite attacks, the rise and fall of the dinosaurs, the Ice Age, the Flood, you name it, this planet has been there.
We are only visitors here. If anything, we are the aliens from another time and place on this planet.
Parents bring children in this world to give them a chance to experience life in a physical body. Real parental love teaches their children how to live, do, take care of and take command of themselves. We can't protect our babies from every germ, we can't take their colds from them, we can only guide them through and teach them how to survive in this world.
If we remember that this is not OUR world but God's world, we should also remember that it is not our job to save this world. That is the Job of Jesus Christ, the Savior. It's HIS job to save the world.
But my daughter needs to learn and experience this life for herself, and all the other babies need a chance to learn what kind of people they are, good or bad, when God is seemingly not around.
What kind of person are YOU when you think God is not around?

Most people have children and bring them up to be law abiding adults who have a humble, honest and empathic outlook on life.
We don't leave them to put right the mistakes of their parents, but hope they will learn from them and avoid making the same or similar ones themselves.
You will probably find that for every million decent human beings on this planet, there is less than 1 that causes harm and breeds hate. From small acorns...................

there's an equally high chance that children coming from responsible parents will have just as horrible childhoods, you know. the world can be tough on everyone, not just people whose parents are selfish morons who simply couldn't afford to kill their children before they were born. you sound a bit like scrooge to me--'decrease the surplus population', maybe? are you telling me people should quit reproducing altogether? that's fairly silly if you ask me. so yes, it's love enough if they at least make an attempt to care.
