How did he justify that? This act of favoritism led to Abel’s death. Genesis 4:3-5

This is actually "cool" from a literary standpoint. The adam and eve "sin" which means break the sky wizard's laws, so god makes them "tunics of skin" - he kills animals so that they can wear leather coasts to cover their skin, thats in chapter 3,
then in chapter 4 abel whose a butcher his sacrafice to the god is of course the dead animals,
and cain is a farmer so hes out working the field but the sky wizard doesnt accept the wheat
cain of course kills abel, cause hes jealous

the hebrew people had all these laws about killing animals so they could get forgiveness from sky wizard

then a later movement of religious people called christians believe that the sky wizard sent this jezeus person, and the jezues died for forgiveness of sin,

so then these christians run around saying how theyre forgiven for lieing and cheating and sleeping with their neighbors wifes, etc

of course the dumb hypocrites that they are they run around protesting gay people saying being gay is a sin,

and of course it is you read in the new testement the saint paul says that gay people wont go to heaven (1 cor 6:9), so, christians pretty much hate gays

there are some modern christians who say oh no its ok the gay can be forgiven, but they're fooling themselves, and ignorant of their own religion, which is clearly one that hates gays

i for one am an atheist

Genesis 4
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

The purpose of the offerings was to point to the offering that would be made by Christ and the sacrifice that he would offer up. Because of that they were commanded to offer up the firstlings of the flock (first born, without blemish, like Christ would be) and the first fruits of the tree (good, wholesome fruit bearing nourishment and purity, like Christ).

Abel did what was right. Cain offered the fruit of the GROUND. Instead of offering that which was precious and pure, he offered what was probably considered worthless worm ridden, bruised, rotten fruit. That is why God rejected it, but still God told Cain if he would do well it would be accepted, but apparently, he did not.

God did no such thing. That is a symbolic account of people who lived in the region known as Canaan at the time of the emergence of the Jewish culture. There were sedentary agricultural people living in that region represented by farmer Cain. The nomadic herder people represented by Able moved in and violently took over.

Abel obeyed God by presenting the right sacrifice, and Cain disobeyed. Abel was accepted, and Cain rejected after many attempts by God to have him change his mind.

That's the same today. There's some Abel-like people that believe in Jesus, and some Cain-like people that don't.

Who says he caused it?

He did not force Cain to feel what he felt or do what he did.

He didn't. Cain had a choice, and he chose to kill his brother.

Your question is like saying the devil made me do it!!!!!!!!
