Here's the problem: I have the earliest lunch period on my schedule. 4th period usually ranges from 10:45-11:30. It's really, really early. I eat my sandwich, water, and celery sticks and get on with the day. However, when I go home, I end up feeling really, really hungry!
I'm not fat, but I am trying to lose a little weight. I hate the thought of eating two lunches a day, and I really want to stop that. For the past few years my Mom has always bought me fast food, which I realized is the one reason why I was overweight for a while. Now that I've turned things around, I want to make sure that I'm doing things right.
Anyone have any after-school snack suggestions for me? I always have a craving for something hot-- not just a little apple or some crackers. I want something filling, tasty, healthy, and low-in-calories.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it!

lean pockets or some soup with clear broth, like vegetable soup. creamy soups aren't as good for you. you could still get the fast food, but get a grilled chicken sandwich and no fries.

Sometimes in the evening I have a bowl of cereal with skim milk -- FiberOne, Post Selects, Smart Start, etc... maybe with a banana added. Sometimes, I have low-fat Triscuits or Wheat Thins. I may use Philadelphia Cream Cheese w/ Garden Veggies Dip. I also have Trail Mix. WalMart has some trail mix that isn't so expensive. Sometimes, I buy some extra peanuts or almonds to add to it so I get the balance that I like (if it has too many raisins, etc...) If my snack doesn't fill me up, then I eat some pretzels too. They have very little fat and calories. I never have chips, sweets, or ice cream etc... I lost 25 lbs and am back at my normal weight.

An easy zucchini bread, made with zucchini, cinnamon, and pecans.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
1 1/2 cups shredded zucchini (about 1 medium zucchini)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 350°. In a mixing bowl, combine oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, baking powder. With a hand mixer on medium speed, beat until ingredients are blended, or about 30 seconds.
Add flour; mix until moistened. Stir in nuts and zucchini. Pour batter into a greased and floured loaf pan. Bake for about 65 to 75 minutes, or until loaf tests done.

A veggie burger is healthy.. Frozen, low fat meals (you can get like budget gourmet, michelina's, that sort of thing for $1 @ Walmart or about any grocery store) are healthy and filling. A low fat turkey and cheese sandwich is good, heat it up if you want something hot. Ummmm... What else. Popcorn.. Whole wheat toast.. Veggies.....assuming you like veggies.. ;) A warm tortilla with beans (pinto, kidney, black beans - your choice, or maybe a littl of each) or fat free refried beans and a sprinkle of cheese.
