Crushed up crackers are awesome on chicken and pork. You might have to add some herbs/spices to the cornmeal if you want to try that. I have been wanting to try using crushed Triscuit crackers as a breading. The ones with the rosemary and olive oil flavor. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Food is all about having fun and exploring. Go for it!

if you have any bread in the house you can place it in the oven at 350 for about 30 minutes and then dice it up or put it in the food processer add seasoning (salt and pepper maybe onion power and garlic powder) and you have bread crumbs
If not crackers work add pepper and other seasonings mentioned aboive but no salt.
croutons work also
Corn meal will also work be sure to season what ever you use to replace the bread crumbs

yes there are several things that you can use.

Crackers, as you yourself suggest, corn flakes that have been crushed, ( or other good cereals),also a friend of mine made a fabulous chicken coating using crushed potato chips. I have used crushed herb and butter croutons and it was wonderful.
Try a combination of 'crumbs on the bottom' of your chip bags, putting them in a jar and using them as a crumb coating. I'll bet you'll have some great meals using these ideas!
