I'm working on a flier and was wondering if anyone knew how (or if you even can) translate Root Beer Float to Spanish??

I don't know how it translates in Spanish, but I love Root Beer Floats. It's a 50's thing.

This is a tough one because we don't have Root Beer in Spain or combine these two ingredients, so nobody would understand it. It is a matter of culture and language. When a friend got me one once in Texas I was puzzled. So my guess is that you will have to explain what it is when you mention it. The literal translations would sound horrible and confuse people for sure as BEER= cerveza, as the lager you drink in a club (this is what a Spaniard would imagine!). Suggestion? " Mezcla de cierto refresco de cola con una bola de helado de vainilla flotando" (Mixture of a certain cola drink topped with a ball of vanilla ice-cream)

My experience with Spanish speaking countries is that they don't really consume rootbeer, so rootbeer floats are not that common. Everytime I have talked about a rootbeer float in Spanish or heard other Spanish speakers talk about rootbeer floats, we/they have used the English term, and if the other person doesn't understand then we explain: "You get this specific type of soda called rootbeer and put some icecream on it and that's a rootbeer float".
For example: Tengo muchas ganas de un "rootbeer float". (I'm really craving a rootbeer float).
