The fears of man causes them to kill and execute ,and torture. back in thoses ages.
Satan does not care about one being evil to get another. The flesh convinced them so they said we are doing this in the name of God. Christians were considered witches and killed.
Non believers where the executioners. They had no true nature of God.

There's a verse in the Old Testament that says "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" and a couple other verses that say somehting to that effect also. Christians used these verses to justify the witchhunt. Christians have justified lots of things by the bible

The same way the Germans were made to go along with Hitler's "final solution."
The same way the Iranians are forced to tolerate Ahmadinijad's theories on 9/11 and the Holocaust.
The same way the Puritans in Salem quickly learned that speaking out meant that they got arrested themselves.
The same way that Southerners actually thought that they'd WIN the Civil War.
The same way that white Americans convinced themselves that it was acceptable to own slaves.
The same way that women prior to the Civil War (and during the Reconstruction era) considered it improper to show themselves in public while they were pregnant.
The same way that society was convinced that women shouldn't work outside the home.
The same way the Romans were convinced that the Christians burned Jerusalem.
Shall I go on?
Not all Christians participated in those atrocities; however, the ones who disagreed with what was going on knew to keep their mouths shut.

Same way the Germans thought they should execute Jews, or Radical Muslims should be suicide bombers, or the Japanese fighter pilots should also suicide bomb, or Roman soldiers should fall on their own swords instead of being captures by barbarians......
