i highly doubt u'd be able to get a regulatory sign there. that would most likely be a state level thing. the most i can see, and this would be iffy, is a warning sign as to what is coming up, and an additional 'driveways' added. u might....and keyword here is MIGHT.....with the support of other residents on the street, get the speed limit lowered, or get it enforced better. example:
there was bridge construction, and a 'unmarked detour' came about via locals that knew the area, and it caught on. in the beginning, the speed limit of the road was 30 mph. because of the heavier traffic, and those bein a complete azz about speed, the residents of the affected street went to the city pd about excessive speed, and requested the speed be lowered along with speed enforcement. within a few days after doing some reconnasance, the speed limit was lowered to 25, and there was zero tolerance on speed. this might work for u, but it will require the rest of ur street to jump in on the bandwagon, or it wont fly.
if u can video document the speed/reckless drivers, and take it to the pd chief, u MIGHT be able to get some cruisers down there with radar to slow them down.....but if they cant afford it, u wont even get that. highway patrol doesnt do city beats generally if it isnt a state highway.

let me get this straight......u want drivers to yeild simply so u can get in/out of ur driveway, yes? here's the answer short and sweet...and is what the city/county/state will also tell u.......u wont get one, and u are not entitled to one either. yeild/stop signs are regulatory signs. just because u might live around a blind curve doesnt entitle u to a yeild sign. if anything, u MIGHT be able to get a warning sign that says "hidden drive" or "hidden driveway".
since u dont say what state ur from, i'll use ohio as an example. in this state, state law is very specific when it comes to 4 way stops for intersections. unless an intersection has a specific traffic flow condition; like, xxx amount of cars per hour, the city/township CANNOT make an intersection into a 4 way stop and make a stop sign into a traffic control device like a traffic light. the city of warren, ohio had to remove quite a few stop signs from certain intersections in the city by order of the state, and still to this day, there's some intersections that are still in violation of state law. example: residential street, most times, very light traffic. there'd be a 4 way stop at an intersection. by state law, this is illegal because traffic isnt heavy enough to warrent a 4 way stop.
regulatory signs is to control traffic flow. a yeild sign would be warrented for the merge to a freeway, interstate, offramp from same, or onramp that also merges from a traffic light. it is not intended, nor will it be erected, on a country road, or on a city residential street simply to make it easier for the owner to get out of their driveway. a driveway is considered private, and as such, u are required to yeild to any and all incoming traffic. u cant even get a flashing yellow light there much less a stop sign.
u left something out that i'd say would be important. exactly what kind of road/street are we talking about, and is it in the vicinity of, or very close to, a blind corner?
i do have a much better suggestion if ur drive is the above. if there's a way to do so, attach a convex mirror so u can see what is coming around the corner from where u'd be sitting at in a car. in this way, u will be able to easily see what's coming or inbound to the corner, and also, incoming traffic will also be able to see u sitting there waiting to pull out. this way, neither of u will have a possible fatal surprize.
u cant leave out any details if ur looking for advice here because none of us can see what is going on from ur point of view, and no answer will be what ur looking for either.
there's a road close to where i grew up. it has a particularly dangerous blind hill that has a driveway practically right on top of it.....but westbound traffic cant see if anyone is at the end of the driveway. problem was solved when the owners put up a large convex mirror situated so that at the driveway, u can see what's coming, and traffic can also see u just as easy.
*hannah, think ya should hit me up in messenger. ur right, this is a complicated 1, and i'd need to do alotta things that would be impossible to do on this board. and even then i still might be way off the mark to state law*

File a complaint to the Public Services Department of your local city government. In my town, once you do this they give you a toolkit that tells you more about how to improve the traffic by educating the rest of the neighbors--things like that. Next a Traffic Engineer contacts you to begin the process of conducting traffic studies and implementing step 1 of the program. Then if they find that a yield sign is necessary, they put one in.
Of course this will be different city by city, but the Public Services department should know.
Also, if you have a HOA, bring it up in the next meeting. That might get the ball rolling!

Huh? Simply see your local zoning committee. Ask your local police first. If there is no history of accidents, you will be out of luck.
I live in the country, it's hilly. At certain times of day when there is lots of traffic, I may need to turn left. Because the speed limit is 55, the OTHER drivers can't see me. So, I turn right, and turn around where I can see or go a few miles out of my way. Better than getting hit broadside and KILLED !
It's your decision.

so you think the through drivers should yield for someone coming out of a driveway. If you have been almost hit quite a few times you need to look at what (you) are doing to cause a potential accident

I just passed on buying the home of my dreams, simply because of the blind driveway right below a hill. I would be devastated if any person got killed in front of my house, but if it was a family member, I would cry myself to sleep every night for the rest of my life.

Buy a piece of crap car and park it on the street I'd yield! Put your own yield sign up. Do you think the locals check this sort of thing ? Deny you know anything about it.

Did you contact one of the departments in your city that handles that type of signage?
