Considering the flood was higher than the tallest mountain, I doubt anyone could be left alive anywhere except on the ark. The waters did not recede for months, how can someone live that long without food?

Have you seen survivor man? I doubt somebody floating on a tree trunk would have lasted the duration.

Did you think about this question before you asked it? How many months could you survive holding onto a tree branch while surrounded by water?

The waters pour from heaven. It was so quick and fast, that they didn't know what hit them probably. They were probably washed away in a heart beat.
