You need to have him vet checked to see if there is a problem with his health.

Old dogs can still be lots of fun.

If he is healthy, are you really sure you want to put him to death after he has given you many years of love and companionship? His feeling for you have not changed. He deserves the same compassion and consideration from you.

Theres a lesson in here-If you truly love your dog, you love him when hes fun, and when hes too old to be fun. You dont have him put to sleep just so you can get another dog to have fun with. Are you old enough to realize that death is final? You dont deserve another dog if you cant take the good with the bad. Has your dog seen a vet. If he is in pain, they have medicine he can take so he can be more active.

WOW, I hope for your sake what goes around doesn't come around. How would you feel if when you are old, your family says "he's no fun anymore, lets put him to sleep". I think you better get a battery operated toy and forget the dog. If I was you for your dog's sake, find a rescue home or some one else to take him. Sounds to me like that dog deserves a better family.

If your only interest is in YOUR fun and not in the dog's best interest then you don't deserve to have a dog. Get your dog to a rescue group so they can find a kind home for the dog - one that doesn't think killing a dog so it can be replaced is a perfectly acceptable answer.

How about if you just get yourself a Frisbee and forget about getting another dog. If you just can't handle having a dog that is no fun, find a good home for him ! Hope if you ever have kids, they don't feel the same way about you when you get where you are not any fun, or to much trouble. You should be ashamed !!

Let me get this straight. Now that your dog is old and not as active, you actually want to put him down even though he may still enjoy life, JUST SO YOU CAN GET ANOTHER DOG???

Troll or not, if I were in the same room as you I'd knock some sense into you.

Troll or not, you make me sick. You are a deplorable human being.

What a sickening question.

A dog ... scratch that, any pet ... is a responsibility that you take on for his entire life. When you accept a dog into your life, you take on the frustration of puppy training and the heartbreak that is that wonderful pup growing old.

If you don't want that responsibility, then you don't even need to think about getting another dog until you achieve the emotional capacity to handle all of the stages in your dog's life.

Life isn't all about you. It's about the people, animals, and things that you invite into your life.

Can your Mom turn you in when you get in the way? She may want a younger, nicer kid to hang around in her house..

Show your dog some love, compassion and patience. He has been your friend for many years and may not have many years left. Stand by your dog as he has stood by YOU!!

Its not for you to decide to 'put him to death' just because YOU want a new dog...SHAME ON YOU

If this question is even a serious one, which I seriously doubt, you are being very selfish! Just because your dog is older and he's not satisfying your needs, is not reason to dispose of him like he's garbage. Don't get another dog, you don't deserve one!

Take him to the vet to make sure he's healthy - if he's old and suffering, that's one thing, but if he's just not a puppy any more, that's no reason to put a dog to death.
