Were you paying him rent to park your trailer on "his" land or was he letting it park free of charge??
If it was free... NO you will make the repairs at your expense.
If the space was ''rented" you still probably will need to make your own repairs out of pocket.
Chances are as most rented place or even body shops---not held responsible for damages.

He could turn this into his vehicle insurance company but that is probably unlikely.
Do you really want to damage yours and his friendship over this? That is something you should look and search your heart before you make a decision that might end a good friendship. It may not be worth that.

Private property is not generally subject to vehicle laws so he may be exempt from liability in that issue.

But... if he gave you permission to park on his property then he is generally held, by law, to take "reasonable care" of your property (there is a higher standard if he RENTS the space to you).

If you can show that he was negligent in backing into your car, then this likely shows a lack of reasonable care and, as such, he would be liable in a civil matter.

BUT.. which is more important to you.. parking there or getting the car fixed because I would hazard a guess that you are only going to get one of them....

good luck.

This might be covered by his home owners insurance. He should check.

I would think so. Doesn't he have liability coverage on his car?

he broke it, he should fix it. Doesn't matter where it is...
