How long does it last? What can be done to get over it besides taking pills? Is it hereditary? Does that mean my kids will have it as well?
Please help

Depression is just an imbalance in your hormones. Actually, it is no different than having diabetes which is also a hormone imbalance. Go to your doctor, get medication and take it as prescribed. You will be amazed at how good you feel in a few weeks. You don't have enough seratonin and/or dopamine. Get your levels up to normal. Sometimes you will be on medication once and for other people several times. On and off again with good results. There are studies that suggest the tendency is hereditary.

It is possible to struggle with it long-term, but it's not always the case. It can run in families, as it is a chemical imbalance, as well as environmental (if you have had some bad things occur). Drugs can really help treat it.

Better consult with a psychologist.
