Not weird, it's sleazy. What a terrible friend. That suggests that they wanted your boyfriend even while you two were together.

Totally lame.

It's not weird - but whether or not it is in good taste depends on a lot of things. Are you still in love with him/her? Do you want to continue to be good friends with this person? What about your ex? Do you want to be friends with him/her? Was the break-up congenial or was there lots of fireworks, tears, screaming etc.?

Bottom line? - How do YOU feel about it? If it makes you feel weird then tell your friend so. What happens next is really out of your hands. If they really want to date - they will - and asking you is just so they can feel better about it. That's not really a bad thing either. The best advice I can give is be honest with your friend about how you feel. If you want to - say yes or no and then say - Did that seem or feel as weird to you as it did to me? Then depending on everything either laugh or turn around and walk away. Just remember this - You have the power in this situation.

I wish you the best

sort of... in my opinion yes... i think that if they are a good friend then that thought should never even cross there mind. there are so many people in the world that they could find someone else. but then there are people who don't think that there is any thing wrong with there friends dating there exes. i think that if one of your friends asked you and it bothers you then you should tell them how you feel so that way you don't get hurt. or if it is the other way around and you are the friend then you should ask your friend... not directly or anything but just like bring it up in a conversation or something. tell him that you just say a movie where a guys friend dated his ex and find out his point of view on that topic.

I don't think it's weird, I think you should be glad they asked. However, it also depends how long you dated that person, and what type of relationship it was. If it was a long, serious relationship, then it may be rude of them to even consider asking that person out. On the other hand, if it was a casual dating situation, I don't think it's werid at all.

A good friend would not want to date an EX.

Unless you only went out 2 or 3 times with your ex, then asking you if it OK is in bad taste and they are not your "good friend".

The rule in my life is never date a friend, or a sister's, ex. Makes life too complicated.

and that's my two cents

Well, that shows your friend is being considerate of your feelings. They like your ex, but they don't want to lose their friendship with you, so they're asking before they do anything. Sometimes it happens. Just respond honestly.

Yes, friends shouldn't date a friend's ex. It's shady, they need to find their own people to date.

Like "themeindzeye" said, she's being considerate for your feelings, that shows that she's a true friend so if I was you I would take "themeindzeye" advice.

P.S: TO JESSICA your answer was rude, it seems that your still in elementary school. And I apoligize for saying that althoug it's true.

Your friend probably does not want to jeopardize your friendship by dating your ex without you knowing about it first, so what's wrong with that?
