Divorced/remarried going to hell.?

Question

I am told as a gay man, that I am going to hell for my "supposed" sin, unless I turn from the sin.

So, what about the divorced/remarried folks, they too are going to hell, unless they turn from their sin by remaining celibate? Correct?

Matthew 5:32, " anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Matthew 19:9 states the same thing

Luke 16:18 same thing

1 Corinthians 6:9 says homosexuals AND adulterers will not inherit the kingdom of God.

So, considering the divorce rate is over 50% in our country...why are the religious folks railing against this sin.

This is over 50% of our country doomed for eternity in hell unless they turn from their sin by remaining celibate. I think you fundies need to start preaching the word...dontcha think?

My basic answer to these type of questions is:

You should only be worried about going to hell if you believe in hell. Stop believing in hell and you will be a much happier person. I think its really awful how some of these fundamentalist types (christian or muslim or whatever) terrorize children with this nonsense. Many even carry this trauma with them into adulthood.

As far as being gay and whether it is a "sin". How can something that you are genetically predisposed to be a "sin"? It is simply a genetic variation that pops up from time to time. Of course gayness would never gain that much of a stronghold inb the population, because by classic "natural selection" definition, you are not reproducing it.

Bottom line: as long as your lifestyle is not harming you, anyone else, or the environment you are acting as a morally responsible person.

No large group of church would dare make divorce an issue, because there are too many divorced heterosexuals. Any group that tried would see a huge drop in income and membership. It's more important to prevent two gay people who are in love from marrying than it is to do anything about the divorce rate of those involved in the heterosexual lifestyle. Besides as long as a buck can be made off the misery of gay people, they'll milk it for as long as they can.

I answered your last question basically saying that if you were to list off the number of sins the bible has in it that condemn people, the list would be VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY long and it would render every single person guilty.

I am not Christian myself, but I know a lot about the religion and basically, Jesus never said, “follow the scripture perfectly and be saved” he said to follow “HIM”.

This is probably because NO ONE can follow scripture perfectly.

I guess the question is: Are you a follower of Jesus or of Paul? I was told that Christians accept that everyone including short of perfection in adherence to biblical rules EVERY DAY and cannot save themselves through their own deeds.

A lot of people do not want it be that easy! All the liberation! All the undeserved love! It scares some people. It makes them resentful because there are people they dislike (like gays) who they do not want to just have an easy route to heaven.

Even though they themselves do not apply the bible perfectly everyday and expect to still be accepted by God.

I do not stand up and preach on thiss site often but I do speak up against Divorce and Homosexuality when I am asked about it. You are absolutely correct about Divorce and "GOD is no respecter of persons". Those who sin and are never forgiven will definitely face the Judgment and not be able to answer for those sins. HIS GRACE is open to all but SIN is SIN and we must all watch what we do, myself included. I am not, nor have I ever been without sin after my baptism but I do ask HIS Forgiveness for those sins that I inadvertently commit each and every day. Have a great week and a wonderful life.

Very good point, but go back to Matthew 5:32 and read (except for) see there are some given reasons for divorce. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. you, me, and every one on this earth. There will most likely be much more then 50% of this country that will not see the Kingdom of God. The question is will you see the Kingdom of God?

Hate to break it to you, but we're all sinners, gay, married, celebate, whatever, we still sin. We don't go to hell for being sinners, it's for not asking foregiveness (sincere only works, that atonement thing doesn't work if you just keep on committing the same sin), we go for not trying to stop sinning.

Quite honestly, over half of that 50% divorce rate is innocent spouses who found out their spouses were cheating, so they're not sinning by getting divorced and remarried, only the cheating spouse is.

You have a long list of sinners to go through as almost anything in our modern world is a sin one way or another. Just using a bank is a sin (the thing about lending money as you are lending your money to the bank so it can make money out of it).

You DO NOT go to hell for your actions. You go to heaven through grace alone.
