What would be a fun creative way to ask someone to be my maid of honor or bridesmaids? 2 of them live in my town and one lives 5 hours away. Nothing very expensive. Thanks!

just ask - if you want to be creative - do it with the thank you gift at the rehearsal dinner.

I had a small wedding party. My sister was my maid of honor and my cousin was my 1 bridesmaid. I didn't want a huge caravan of girls when those two were the only ones that really meant something to me. A Matron of Honor is the same as a Maid of Honor but she is married. Your bridesmaids should be people that are close to you. I wouldn't choose your friend from high school which was 5 years ago and you don't talk to one another. They don't have to all wear the same thing, you can pick out a dress that they all could wear or you could just pick out a color and tell them to get a dress accordingly. It's all up to you.

vle has it right, there is no need for anything 'cute and original'. Simple is best - get together with the 2 that live nearby and call the ones who don't and ask " Here's the date we were looking at, and I would love it if you'd do me the honor of being my bridesmaid/MOH" Simple, direct, honest and most of all letting her know she's special and that's the reason you are asking her!

Don't get weird with this. You aren't asking them to marry you so there's no need to make this creative like a marriage proposal. Just ask them. "Hey, Suzie, I'm getting married on July 10th next year. I'd really love it if you could be a bridesmaid."

I think that calling them and asking them over the phone, while not creative, is the best way. It would be very awkward for them if you did something more and they weren't going to say yes. If they don't live nearby it's possible they will say no.

Congtats!

Off the top of my head...

Have a flower or balloon bouquet or plant delivered and ask them on the card?

A singing telegram?

Send them a wedding card (like the 99 cent store type) and ask them in it?

the ones in town anyway, you could 'kidnap' for lunch and ask them; do you all (the ones in town anyway) listen to the same radio staiton that you could call in?

Let us know what you go with!

Go to www.theknot.com - I believe they have some fun, creating ways of doing this. This website is a great resource for all your wedding planning as well!

I think you should go there with personalized balloons that say "Would be an honor if you will be a part of my wedding party"
